Also, if Thermite was used it was to cause the fire, but fire doesn't bring a building down, you need explosives for that. Shaped charges and normal charges that blow the cut materials into the direction it's supposed to go so the building collapses in it's footprint.

Correct. Before Barbarossa, while the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was still in effect, Germany bought oil from the USSR. Estimations about the durations of operations in the East were way to optimistic. Beginning of '42 the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front already began to suffer from shortages. -

Stalingrad was definitely a turning point. But lets not forget Germany had three army groups running operations in the USSR. Army group North attacking Leningrad, Army group Center which was enroute to Moscow and Army group South who's initial objective was to capture the oilfields beyond Sevastopol and the Crimea in general. Army group South got split up trying to achieve two objectives at the same time. Winning the oil fields and capturing Stalingrad.
While all this was happening Georgy Zhukov was preparing a counter offensive to the North of Stalingrad. Also lets keep in mind that during the initial stages of Barbarossa, the Soviets, literally moved more than 1000 factories into the Soviet Hinterlands AKA Siberia. The war making capabilities of the USSR were underestimated by all major powers including the allies. The evacuation of the means of producing armaments and the intel that Japan wouldn't invade from China made the Soviets confident enough to build up their forces in the East and to raise more armies from the East for the defense and upcoming counter offensive of the Soviet Union. -

People don't know this but the buildings were 3 buildings stacked on each other. Like 35-36 floors each. With 2 floors of maintaince rooms between each 3rd sections. So floor 37 and 38 would not be numbered where as floor 39 would be floor 37 on the next level. I don't know if my floors are correct in numbering but the elevators would start again and each section of thirds.
Floor 1, 37, 74 ( though I might he wrong with exact floor numbering) would have elevator transferring points. Only maintenance or service elevators went from garage basement all the way up to 110 and a attic of floor above 110.
The bottom third section had much larger I beams and cross members (H beams?) Then section two and section 3. Each section needed less steel for support.
So this is why the resistance should have been greater and greater while at the same time the load of office floors and all of the furnishings had blew out sideways far away from the structure throwing cross beams a football field length away destroying building 4,5 and 6. While building 7 was much farther

Anyway, if you look at the picture i still have those two charges with the black and yellow warning tape on them left they make about 300g of high explosives in total. I also still have a 10g blasting cap. I'm thinking i am going to combine those charges, and since i don't want to kill people but do want to cause some destruction i am going to make a water buffer. What that means is that you just have a layer of water between your charges and the thing you are trying to destroy. The explosive force will push on the water, making it effectively function like a jack hammer.
I think i'm gonna see if i can crack some concrete slabs using this method. -
