Maybe. Ideally you'll live, but getting your skull caved in by a BFI with a hockey stick isn't exactly safe and survival is not a guarantee. People have been killed by single punches, let alone all the people throughout history who have been clubbed to death with sticks. Given the choice between rolling those dice and killing the piece of shit trying to attack me, I'm taking the second option every time and there is nothing immoral about that.
Don't want to get slotted? Don't attack people. What's insane is that there are places in this world where folks are just expected to get their asses beat to their attackers' hearts content with no recourse to self-defense because they are weaker or outnumbered. -

Like I think everyone relies at least a little on lip reading and other facial context clues at least some of the time. The masks muffle your voice, hide your mouth, and possibly makes it harder to hear. Add in social distancing, self-isolating, and holy shit this pandemic thing is like a spiritual attack on the bonds that keep humanity together. It's kind of beautiful in how brutally disruptive it's been to the smooth operation of society. Haha.
