   RAID card in the cluster the DB server was on failed, whole database was fucked. Luckily we had a usable backup today so I restored from that. Sorry for all the down time. Let me know if anything is still borked

    They did, and it would have been fine if it was the web server, but if there's a disk write happening, e.g. a DB operation, and the disk suddenly vanishes, the DB ends up in an inconsistent state. WAL or something would probably make it recoverable but it comes with a performance cost.
