Yeah I dont know much about telescopes as you do. I am farsighted and I can't see shit in the bay area because of light polution but if you get out in the western high desert region of north reno or close to idaho, it's one of the darkest areas of the lower 48 these days. I hope parkland moves in and buys up the rest of last because we don't need new towns popping up in nature fucking it up for the rest of the people who love to camp and see the skies only our ancestors were able to see more than 200 years ago and beyond.
its so rare now. You have to be in the middle of South America or Africa or maybe Australia outback to see the Milkyway-band with the naked eye. we're at the end of one of the arms that come off from the center. like a rotating spider. yep
we can see the tip of our own arm. -

I was sitting at Dan's Bar in walnut creek and some older guys started talking about it and I said, I heard someone recently (but didn't say on the computer) breaking a mirror below the waterline and thought it was some kind of inside joke. and this 80 plus year old guy was like "Nope, it's a known story to the locals"
this was Walnut Creek before the big redesign of the city to bring in big bucks. it's Contra Costa's Rodeo Drive now.
Walnut Creek had a charming old town feel to it with older blue collar and ranchers from the tri-valley coming into the water-holes back then.
Dan's used to be a place that played cover bands (they prolly still do) but has since become just another big-town establishment on the weekends
I fucking hate Walnut Creek now as far as driving around. it used to be a nice town. it even had riots during the George Floyd moment. breaking into high end stores and just wrecking the fuck out of the city. overwhelmed the small town'esque police force. they ended up blocking off all the roads to through traffic and still do it to some of the streets now.

I didn't even say shit and he picked up on it hella quick. reminds me of a bar moment where a gay Asian-boi tried to ask me to dance and I was like "now I'm good" all polite but with my grave-disease eyes I get at times and his/her/they/them real female friend (at least I think she was) just yelled hell of loud "Leave my girlfriend alone" and the bouncer came up to me and asked to leave and I told him and he said "No I know, she's overprotective but it may lead to something" and I said, sure I'll go but the place was a freak fest anyways.
On the way out he thanked me and said this happens once a week. I'm guess they should have been escorted out and not me but maybe they owned the bar. -
