Chinese is the most spoken language in the world by a large margin. 15% vs English at like 5%. Even Spanish, the second most spoken, is only at 6%. Pretty sure English is fourth below Hindi -

but english is the official language of international business. that's why all the chinese and everyone else is all learning english. how many english speakers you know trying to learn chinese or spanish etc?

Uhhh, quite a lot. My cousin who is a big executive type in Mexico, has a Chinese translator for when he travels to China. Your bumfuck nowhere brit town probably hasn't had any new genetics in the last 300 years, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world hasn't had an influx of chinese. They are everywhere. Most populous people on the planet by a wide margin. It's laughable you think English can overtake that, and really only shows how culturally sheltered you are. -

Lol no. Do you realize UK is one of the biggest beneficiary's of Chinese venture capital? You know how the Chinese use their wealth? As soft-power to achieve geo-political aims. China has a bunch of ports in the UK among other strategically important assets.

The fact is that in 2 or 3 hundred years from now the entire globe will speak one language because it will make sense to, and the world will be a much smaller place(figuratively). And that language will be English because it is still the dominant language in the world and because London is still the financial capital of the world and will still be for some years to come. Also america speaks english and their cultural influence on the world right now is massive. Just look at hollywood, they make the best movies by far and they're all made in english. The fact is that in the worlds popularity contest, Britain and america are by far the most popular players, everyone wants to come and live in Britain and America and everyone wants to learn english. Thats just how it is whether you like it or not.
