Human vision is a very interesting subject of study. Our brains are exceptional at efficiently processing visual information because they use nifty tricks to extrapolate from incomplete data. Your eye moves in saccades and has a blindness during the saccade. Your brain interpolates in between saccades. This is why "moving" optical illusions work; your eye switches to a different part of the picture and due to the nature of the picture and ocular foveation, the part you just left looks like it is moving.
