We have been over this before, in the context of blanket legalization of recreational heroin use. It's because you've used the "safety" of heroin use as justification for it's legalization that I bring it up at all. Equivocating on the idea of the safety of a drug was a major part of your argument, which is why I pointed out that heroin is not at all safe in the way we would call something like aspirin a relatively safe drug.
If it were not for the financial, social, and legal repercussions, I don't see why chemical dependence should be seen as an intrinsically negative thing. Meaning, if it was free and plentiful, if it did not have the terrible stigma against it, and if there was no threat of punishment for using it, I don't see why it's automatically negative. -

Yeah but that's more of a side effect than a long term risk. Take some miralax and you'll be good. Constipation related complications are entirely avoidable, unlike say, the risk of cancer you get from consuming more than one drink a day. You could argue that one drink a day is 'responsible use' but you aren't even getting drunk soo -
2018-05-06 at 7:52 AM UTCanyone else notice how funny it is that an alcoholic argues about the safety of using a substance for justifying its legislation?

I have never used the safety of heroin as justification for legalization.
I support full legalization and taxation because it would make things safer, and also because I believe it should be a given freedom to put whatever you want into your body in as safe and reliable a way as possible.
I don't think dependence in and of itself is a negative health effect. It's not like benzo dependence, which can result in death when you stop taking it. Opiate addiction is more of a psychological issue than a physiological one, which is what we're discussing. -

2018-05-06 at 11:42 AM UTCI'm glad Comedy Central is showing Scrubs again. It's been long enough where it's almost like watching it fresh. I definitely don't remember most episode plots, but there's still the nostalgia. Man, I might be mistaken, but it must've been near a decade since I watched this shit, maybe more.

do yourself a favour and don't watch past the first few seasons; it morphs into a drama at some point and becomes very unfunny
