You realize that you’re talking about a fucking $15 piece of plastic right. If you have a physical/emotional connection to an inanimate object then you must be one lonely dude. -
2017-12-20 at 3:05 PM UTCIt's pathetic that you people honestly think files are comparable to an actual collection.
You can perform all the mental gymnastics you want but at the end of the day you're still just left with immaterial files you have no connection to vs something that phsysicaly exists and becomes part of your life.
I suggest you all go out and buy a cd or vinyl record before you spout off all thid dumb shit, -

Nah, I just happen to actually care about music.
Unlike this forum I don't treat music as a disposable commodity.
To me it's something of a spiritual experience, and listening to an album without any physical component/experience totally gimps it.
Serious listeners and musicians feel the same way. -

i'm not even convinced you actually understand the concept of 'music' at all.
.
Nope.
We're talking about albums, which is something that must exist physically in order to be fully experienced.
Though even if you're only interested in singles or listening to songs individually it's still a better experience physically.

Originally posted by NARCassist for me its just as much about the music video's with a lot of music. making it a whole audio-visual experience. i very much appreciate an artist that puts as much effort into the video as the song itself. these are true artists. these are very rare these days. 20 or 30 years ago there was less digital effects available to use in producing a music video so they had to get very creative to produce a good work of art. now a days the technology makes it so easy any cunt is making music videos in their bedrooms, but rely so much on the tech that they give up on the creativity. this is one of the reasons i appreciate die antwoord as its obvious the effort they put into their videos. unlike most rappers(sorry, i can't say rap artists) who just copy all the others and stand around wearing bling with a bunch of bikini clad chicks and waving cash around trying to look 'gangster'. its been done to death so much it should be labelled necrophilia.
.
Music videos were only used as a promotional tool.
You'll see fewer of them once you delve inti music beyond the mainstream stuff.
I agree though that they're an important component to music though, they're really fun to watch and can make a song more memorable in certain circumstances. -

2017-12-20 at 3:55 PM UTCThis is just getting sad. Its like the physical books vs e-books "debate."
They're preferences. Sure it's nice to have physical copies of your media, but at the end of the day, what you supposed to enjoy is the content, not the medium in which it's delivered.
What the fuck, kid? "If you don't have physical copies of every album you have ever enjoyed you don't have any taste or appreciation for music."
Do you realize how -- nevermind. No, you don't. Forget you. -
2017-12-20 at 4:04 PM UTCSure you could read an ebook and absorb the content but it's not at all comparable to having the book physically.
It's about the medium as an experience.
There is no way around this, if you want to fully appreciate an album you would want the physical apsect.
Streaming or files is akin to having only listened to it on thr radio.
Files/streaming is good for seeing if you enjoy it and sharing a particular song with others but it's not a substitute for actual albums. -

You do realize that you can have full albums in data forum, right?
Also, things like CD players are more and more obscure these days. Lots of cars don't even have them anymore. So then what? Because a person puts full albums onto a USB stick the don't "get it" because they're not inserting a physical disc into a slot?
What about 8-tracks, cassette tapes, etc.? Do you own a physical copy of every album you love in every form of media available? -

An image of the album cover on a screen is not anything like actually holding it in your hands.
Also, people still sell cd players and any bluray or dvd player can play them.
Cars are made to appeal to the lowest commom denominator, however were you to look online or at an audio store you would be able to find an audio system with a cd player. -

Hey, get this, I don't disagree. Owning albums is nice. Its cool to have hard copies of the music you love.
At the same time, sometimes it's just not possible, or like Bill Krozby said, you enjoy so much music that it would be far too expensive or just phsycially impracticle to own every single physical album.
Can you seriously not understand that or is this just part of your routine to try and get under our feathers? Can you concede to any points being made?
