Yeah because "market forces" are a bad thing. Hey guess what. If America did something about the hundreds of thousands of immigrants (Legal or otherwise) coming in every year maybe the supply of low skilled workers wouldn't be so great as to let employers get away with paying people this little. If there's millions of people that'll do a job it will always go to the people who are willing to get paid the least. Workers compete for a job, just the same as employers compete for employees. If there's a job only a select few people can do of course they are bound to get paid more. It's just how it works.
