PHILIPPINES - Significant numbers of foreign fighters (Saudis and Indonesians mostly) have been found among the dead jihadis. This is troubling because an influx of foreign fighters (similar to what happened to Syria) escalates the situation dramatically. If their transport is being facilitated by the US as is very likely, experienced and highly-dangerous irregular veterans of the conflicts of Syria, Iraq and Libya are going to cause major problems when they start showing up.

SYRIA - The US SOF group at Tanf ordered 350 Switchblade drones on May 18th.

So far they've all been used against the SAA, not ISIS.

IRAQ - This video came out of a medical station at Mosul; they obviously didn't have the means to treat the guy so were trying to stabilise him on his way to the hospital. They had no idea what had happened to him initially, but it was apparently discovered later on that an unknown chemical weapon had been tested on him.

Pretty graphic. It's only worth watching to the 3-minute mark, the rest is just him bumping around delirious in the ambulance.

What would do that? He doesn't seem to be losing muscle control like an organophosphate compound typically does; it just seems like he's weak from blood loss. Doesn't look like Mustard or Chlorine which is popular among militants in the region... It almost looks like he swallowed razors or nails or something.

Found the medic's Facebook account, apparently it wasn't chlorine because it's easy to smell on victims and they didn't notice it here, and mustard victims have visible pustules and skin burns. Definitely not VX or Sarin.

SYRIA - The SDF (Kurd Force One) have begun laying siege to Raqqa; as I understand it they're softening up the defences and plan on actually entering the city tomorrow.

The SAA are pressing into Deir Eizzor to cut off ISIS and stop them from retreating once they're defeated in Raqqa (which is only a matter of time), but were surprised by a massive counterattack - they lost a few key positions but took minimal casualties falling back. Lines aren't broken; Russian air power is pounding the positions they lost and they should be pushing forward again shortly.

I'm not even going to get into the details of triage/treatment other than to say wtf?

there's no way they could have initially suspected chemical weapons exposure otherwise he would have been naked and already decontaminated before being brought in.

no chemwep I know of has that effect. as already mentioned chlorine, etc, leave physical indications such as odor and burns. cholinesterase inhibitors that would cause blood to be puked like that would also cause major muscle spasms...and death.

the dude was asking about checking under the armpits indicating he was looking for a projectile entry wound...which would have made more sense than chemical weapon exposure for the dudes symptoms.

he was breathing ok, it seemed like.

yeah, in the first few minutes the guys assumed he'd been shot, first thought that the wound was under his shirt, then on his back, then wondered about the armpits when they couldn't find anything. it was only after the fact that they apparently found out it was a chemical weapon, but who knows if it's true or not - maybe he was forced to drink some corrosive agent or something and the hospital classified it as 'chemical attack'

UK - So apparently ISIS and other militants use the Telegram service for general communications; in the past they've used it to organise media attacks (ie. false reports of government crimes where multiple seemingly independent sources corroborate each other), disseminate 'advertising media', and even as a trading post for weapons and munitions (I have screencaps saved somewhere).

Apparently for the first time they're now calling for attacks in England during Ramadan, urging supporters into action.

This is not just government agencies saying that more attacks are likely; management is calling for them.

    Expect more fireworks to come.

    A few other things:

SYRIA - US reports 'destroying' a group of SAA-aligned militants who entered their 55km 'exclusion zone' around their ISOF base near the Al-Tanf border crossing with Jordan. Interestingly I've seen nothing from Syrian Government sources about it.

IRAQ/SYRIA - Abu Azrael, cannibal kebabmaker and burner of beards has punched through the Syrian border with his PMU, the al-Imam Ali brigade. He's likely co-ordinating with the SAA to give it to Deir Eizzor from both ends.

And now they have the gall to claim it's a deconfliction zone under the Astana agreement... even though the US didn't participate in the agreement and there was no de-escalation zone declared anywhere near that area.

IRAN - ISIS claimed two attacks in Iran killing 12 and injuring 40+. It's the first I've seen Iran get hit lately... Saudi Arabia is in for a really bad time.

SAUDI ARABIA - SA has issued a 24 hour deadline ultimatum to Qatar. Apparently the demands are as follows.

Immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Iran.
Expulsion of all members of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas from Qatar.
Freezing all bank accounts of Hamas members and refraining from any deal with them.
Expulsion of all Muslim Brotherhood members from Qatar.
    Expulsion of anti-[P]GCC elements.
    Ending support for ‘terrorist organisations’.
    Stopping interference in Egyptian affairs.
Ceasing the broadcast of the Al Jazeera news channel.
Apologising to all [Persian] Gulf governments for ‘abuses’ by Al Jazeera.
Pledging that it (Qatar) will not carry out any actions that contradict the policies of the [P]GCC and adhering to its charter.

Looks like a pretense to go to war with Qatar, especially considering the demand for Qatar to sever all diplomatic ties with Iran.

I'm still trying to figure out what is 'really' going on over there because none of the MINITRU or non-govt explanations make sense

not exaggerating, but a small caliber (5.xxmm) high-velocity (3k-ish fps) military (non-expanding, hollow tip (not hollow point)) projectile could enter any point in the human body and exit at any other point.

that dude could have an entry wound in his ass and no exit wound but a bullet lodged in one lung, which was shredded.

drinking something caustic would cause puking blood but decent respiration. and...be technically chemical weapons

I'm not sure how many other issues are underlying, but I think it's a combination of Qatar's support for diplomacy with Iran (against Saudi Arabia's goal of being the only regional power) and possibly KSA trying to cut support for ISIS/Al Nusra since it's only a matter of time before they get completely roflstomped, and blaming Qatar for all the material support they gave over the years.

I thought Saudi Agaybia didn't have a military, just a peace keeping force, no?
