I had to go get a license in San Jose just for uber and lyft to work Mineta Airport. he has to have a EIN number or he can't file tax forms.
Yeah you don’t need a business license for that. Must be a California thing. I’ve never heard of that anywhere else -

Who me? No I was talking about the thing you said about needing a business license to be a 1099 worker and that’s not true. Like I dunno what the fuck random law in California made you get one to pick people up at the airport in your Uber or whatever, but that doesn’t apply to most people in most cases. -

No that was directed at Speedy
and I agree 100% about that part. as a matter of fact, that part is state related or county related. and it fell through later, and is in limboland because the state was supposed to create some license for gig workers to be mounted like that of an old taxi medallion but covid came along and it just froze.
I showed up at the airport in San Jose and here are cops waving me to pull over and gave me a warning citation that was a fine if I didn't go down to city hall and get a business license (just any generic name and pay 100 dollars for the city of San Jose) also my first license I didn't have to pay, it was the following year. San Francisco did the same thing. but thats not the 1099 thing really. 1099 says you need an EIN for the companies you did. doordash for the last year since I been working deliver only. not picking up people anymore if I dont have to. it doesn't pay enough for my gas and wear and tear.
So in short, Speedy aka Darth Beaver is saying he's passing the burden of hiring a contractor to do this stuff and give him a 1099
but as a business owner, He still is responsible for making sure the worker has a business license. he can't just go "here fucker, I pay this, you pay a business tax on your own"
doesn't work that fucking way -

Workers in Arizona don't need a business license you fucking moron. It doesn't matter if they are 1099 or W2. I own a business and don't need a "business license" I need a liquor license, I need a health card, I need a liquor managers card, and I need an annual health inspection.
Seriously, how fucking retarded are you for real?
