I think it is whether people want the change or not, if a small group overthrows a government I think that’s democratic.

The military is made up of people. When they act in unison to overthrow a regime are they acting democratically?

  5. Democracy also doesn't exist, another lie that people soak up like a slice of mothers-pride soaking up the gravy after that big Sunday lunch.

Cloak and mirrors fuys, or is it smoke and mirrors?

strictly by definition democracy is mob rule where the majority gets what it wants, you could argue that weapons are a force multiplier that allows a smaller group to hold power even without being a majority

historically though 'universal suffrage' was only tried in the last hundred years or so. Greece, Rome and later attempts across Europe typically only extended the right to participate to men who'd demonstrated their worth to the state or community (ie through military or civil service) and explicitly excluded groups like women and catamites

I remember learning about the kind of "democracy" greece had at uni and thinking it sounded alot like Ghaddafi's "representational democracy" where they hold senate at the pleasure of the HNIC who makes the rules and has veto power. Say what u will about how crooked america is, they have centuries of spitefully making check and balance laws to ensu44 nobody does anything too consequential

Ghadaffi turned Libya into the most developed country in North Africa, and 'first world liberal democracies' are stuffed with bureaucrats who are more concerned with preserving their own comfort than any greater purpose

Its sad because if Libya wasnt isolated so much they would have been able to pull their neighbors up and mend inter african divisions. He had a righteous hate on for the queen though and by extension all her vassels had to turn on him. Now hes just an example of what happens when you fuck around. Its insane they justified NATO intervention into the country

They'd set up a Junta, and even if ranking officers can vote on matters. Those officers aren't representing districts or groups of people and certainly weren't voted into their positions. So no.
