In CSGO, deathmatch is literally the warmup node. Nobody cares about their score and nobody really plays the official DN servers because they have death and respawn animations. Everyone just plays community DM servers that instantly respawns you. The point is to just warmup and practice your aim, get "jacked in" to the game.
There is a lot of brain involved in CS. There's a lot of skill as usually 1-2 headshots is a kill and you only get 1 life. So you need to use flashbangs, smokes, molotovs and frags to enter areas, clear angles, cover or cut off chokes etc and conversely break through defenses. Shit can get ultra tense.
There is an economy management system. Everyone starts each game with $800 and a pistol, then you get money for kills, different amounts for different weapons, and planting or defusing the bomb or winning and losing rounds. You can buy up to 4 total grenades out of flashbangs, smoke grenade, molotov and frag grenade, up to 2 flashes and 1 of each of the other kinds. Losing multiple rounds in a row will give you a progressively larger loser bonus up to 4 losses in a row.
So you have a really awesome evb and flow to games because not every round is 100% geared up with everyone using the biggest rifles. The AWP is a 1 hit kill sniper rifle that kills with 1 hit anywhere above the legs, but it's a slow and unwieldy weapon and costs $4750 and only gives $100 per kill so it's a giant investment and if you lose it without getting much work done, it's a huge blow to your economy. So teams will support their AWP or sometimes everyone will be poor but bet it all on giving their start sniper an AWP while backing him up.
Sometimes your economy is broken and you are broke as shit so you have to make it work with 5 pistols and shit equipment, maybe even no Kevlar (rounds where you are saving = eco round)... And sometimes they do make it work. But you are also very vulnerable to someone with an abti-eco weapon like a MAC-10 will swing out and rape you all at $600/kill and farm a free $3000 out of you and have a shitload of cash next round so he can be buy himself and his teammate a rifle and thus his teammate can afford full armor and grenades.

How much does CSGO cost? I've never played it before.

Tbh CSGO is not about the shooty dooty aspect at all. It only takes 1-3 bullets to kill each player. If you start understanding positioning etc then it is actually crazy how intense the game constantly is, and it's barely about shikting everywhere at all. Basically most fights are usually won or lost before a single bullet is fired at all. Positioning, grenades, timing, strategy all determine everything and when an engagement finally culminates in 2 people shooting at each other, the kill is almost a formality, like capturing a piece in chess. Of course the skill still matters there but it is more like if one high level player is significantly more mechanically skilled than the other, their skill factor can take a 60/40 engagement against them and perhaps turn it into a 50/50 or maybe even a 55/45 or 60/40 in their favour. If they are really crazy maybe they can even turn a 70/30 into a 50/50 regularly.
There are layers and stuff maaaan.

Remember half life original? That game was dope, isn't counterstrike made by valve too and was a spinoff? Why did they drop the ball on half life? Someone tell me in a long post
