2021-11-08 at 5:34 PM UTCIf Germany wants all these refugees they should be forced to keep them. Places like Greece and Poland should give them free transport to get rid of them. Let diversity be Germany and England's strength.

that's the EU's entire purpose, it's meant to be a stepping stone to some kind of federation
point is Poland's trying to be tricky by taking advantage of the state welfare program but not taking any of the responsibility or obligations
if I were concerned about national sovereignty I wouldn't have joined the EU in the first place, but then how would I move to England to be an illegal plumber -

I'd doubt it'll happen. it's got nothing to offer the EU or NATO outside of strategic position and its upkeep cost isn't worth that.
I might write a thread about it later but it's looking like the US is going to cut it loose entirely; let Russia take a chunk and be economically crippled trying to salvage it -
2021-11-08 at 8:29 PM UTCwhat has poland got to offer or had in 2014 outside strategic position?

Yeah, that's why I always assumed that the EU would take it eventually. The agricultural land in Ukraine is amazing. It's easy to see why someone like Hitler wanted it. -

The EU doesn't really need any more unskilled workers; there's already infrastructure for the west to exploit semi/skilled workers inside the Ukraine. Amazon and other tech companies already outsource a bunch of stuff there, from repetitive monkeywork to train AI to high level programming.

The majority of arable land and natural resources are in the East, and even if the Donetsk/Lughansk regions don't get absorbed into the Russian Federation the rebels are not going to rejoin with Kiev unless they have a high degree of autonomy. In that case they'd reject any integration with the EU/NATO -

There is always a requirement for more crop pickers and service staff. America imported about 100 million squatemalans, and they still complain about how hard it is to find staff.Amazon and other tech companies already outsource a bunch of stuff there, from repetitive monkeywork to train AI to high level programming.
I think high tech and finance and the like is the only thing that works in Ukraine because all you need is an internet connection, so there is nothing material for the oligarchs to steal. It's very hard to do business in Ukraine as a normal company, and companies keep having to leave the country due to encountering hostile bullshit. Tech salaries in Ukraine tend to be a joke by western standards, like €600 a month. The majority of arable land and natural resources are in the East, and even if the Donetsk/Lughansk regions don't get absorbed into the Russian Federation the rebels are not going to rejoin with Kiev unless they have a high degree of autonomy. Also they are way better off in Russia, since they get much higher wages and a much higher pension. Pensions in Ukraine start at about $30 a month, which probably doesn't make much sense to us, but it's literally all old people get to live on. Military widows and the like get more, but not much. -
