It seems now that the extremist Viktor Orban is threatening to get involved.
He wants money from the EU (this is a pretext, since he knows he won't get it) and has said he's "ready to open a corridor for migrants to march up to Austria, Germany, and Sweden."

there is no benefit to Russia invading the Ukraine and if they intended to, you'd see a massive activation of strategic missile units long before ground troops were deployed.
that is propaganda meant for domestic consumption to ramp up military spending.

NATO is already shitting its pants because they are literally generations behind in terms of missile tech and have no credible response to the Russian army inside Europe.

nothing 'secret' about it - the Ukraine is becoming more and more hostile with NATO making noises about accepting them (even though it's almost certainly not going to happen because they're nothing but a liability) so they reactivated an armored unit that was initially disbanded because the Ukraine was considered a buffer zone that NATO would not encroach upon. nevermind the fact that it's 200km inside Russia, not 'on the border'.

my prediction is that NATO will goad the Ukraine into starting a fight then stay out of it. they'll use the opportunity to learn more about the C&C aspects of Russia's new weapons systems, try to punish them politically and make it as expensive as possible for Russia to try to rehabilitate Eastern Ukraine
