I'm sold on the idea of pure consciousness at the very least. I imagine it having something to do with the ideas of the noumenal and phenomenal world, as described by Kant.

If you meditate, I think quite often you will find that you can tune out your senses in a true way. You see nothing, not even blackness. You hear nothing, not even silence. It's like shutting those switches off entirely. And I've tried this in a sensory deprivation tank three or four times, you can almost tune out everything.

And at that point, it feels like you reach this ground state of pure consciousness. Imagine a blob of mercury floating in zero G. It almost feels like that; something that reflects and is molded in shape by the impact of sensory data, but it's only meaningful because there's something else there, like a mirror in a dark room.

I initially thought it was horseshit, but it makes a lot of sense if you experience it yourself. Or it did to me.

As far as God goes, I'm almost certain there's no personal god or heaven out there. But it feels like there is some force beyond our understanding of reason or logic, which is conscious and intelligent on a higher level, and we struggle to capture it and distill it in a way that makes sense in our own context. It's like a chimp trying to understand and replicate A Pilgrimage to San Isidro. He uses the faculties available to him as best as he can,but it's not enough.

So you go into the house to discover pristine antique furniture of superior craftsmanship, plush carpets throughout, spiral stairways, and cathedral ceilings, with murals inlaid therein. You peek into all the rooms one by one, and find each one carefully arranged and decorated in its own unique style. Then you say to yourself, "This all got here by itself. It was an accident. Over billions of years, this mansion formed itself, and everything in and around it came about by pure chance. No one made it. No one worked on it. No one thought any of it out in advance." This is the "logic" of the evolution theorist. Creation, in itself, is 100% indisputable proof of a superior creator, just the same as the mansion also had intelligent design. But Satan himself has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the the truth of all God's good works may not shine through.

so who/what created the creator then?

Confusing book, that Bible.

Of course Jesus tells people not to be like the Pharisees, that's a sect of jediS!

I specifically said that this thread wasn't about making fun of religious people. Is it impossible for you to not ascribe an ulterior motive when someone says they're just curious. No my friend. Shame on you.
