fucking THIS. doctors have access to better journals and first-hand experiences than i do and i can say for a fact what you posted is accurate. it isnt only memory, its cognitive and emotional. tempers shorten and 'rage' develops. yet they continue to knowingly prescribe this shit for long term use. 3 years? that fuck needs to lose his medical license.

Yeah, my memory is a lot better than it was a year ago, but still pretty awful (although some of it is withdrawal.) I have a ways to go though, then PAWS I'm sure, which with my case I'm planning on the full 2 years because I can't even find relevant data on people above 4mg for multiple years.
from what ive witnessed:
- recreational user over about three years, used 4mg to 14mg over a weekend along with alcohol. after the first year started the memory issues. after quitting cold turkey took a year to normalize memory and two years to get back to normal personality
- recreational user whos Dr. prescribed it. took it daily in 1mg or less dosages. when socializing, going 'out', or when stressed would take 2mg or 3mg dosages. at 3mg dosages would be a walking zombie...as in would act normal in all regards but about twelve hours later, or the next day, would ask to be reminded of the days activities. before starting taking the shit was normal; after about a year would have ridiculously absurd rage attacks for absurd reasons. went ballistic over a waiter bringing the wrong drink to the point the cops were called. the habit went on for about two years then the dr took the xanax away due to needing an operation. memory issues and the psycho episodes waned about about 10 months and 'normal' after 18 months, or so
- junkie who was prescribed it but took 8mg-10mg for a dose, taken 4 or 5 times a week for about two years, and used other drugs. most likely not completely due to xanax, but went nuts. was a B or A student in school but after a year of junky-itis went full retard with no cognitive skills whatsoever. (walked out of a hotel room literally naked to go to the continental breakfast. was brought back to room by manager. said 'totally forgot to get dressed after taking a shower.') parents called cops repeatedly. was 'marchman-acted' i dont even know how many times. 'baker acted' a couple of times. have no idea if they ever stopped taking the stuff or even if theyre still alive.
