soap from 'back in the day' is the exact same as it is in modern times. antibacterial soap is regular soap with a bacteriacide added...and has been shown in studies to have the exact same effect as non-antibacterial soap in removing bacteria. (except for the fact its contributing to antibacterial resistant strains of bacteria.) the way all soap works, simplified, is it 'removes' the germs from the skin and flushes them off...it doesnt kill them.
babies are supposed to be 'dirty'...including the flush down the cock slot that picks up all kinds of new and interesting microbes. why do you think babies are always sticking shit into their mouths? its the 'immune' system which needs to be trained...or more appropriately 'programmed' just as every other part of a new sprog, to decide what is naughty and what is nice.

i never get into my bed without taking a shower...and i never do anything after taking a bedtime shower except go to bed. yet...after 6 days i can wash my sheets and the wash-water is nasty and funky. and i never take less than one shower a day, under normal circumstances. sometimes ill take 3 or 4 showers in one day if the need arises.
laundry detergent doesnt kill bacterial. the way microbes are killed in laundry is in the dryer when they heat up to the proper temperature for the proper amount of time...which depends on the particular type of microbe. some die fast...some have to be damned near autoclaved.
freezing doesnt kill all microbes. the majority of the ones detrimental to human health are either killed or, more often, 'stunned' into slowed metabolism, reproduction, and growth, to minimally effect human health by allowing the 'immune' system to take care of the rest. same with the microbes that cause human-stink...theyre mostly 'stunned' into reduced metabolic rate...hence, reducing their stench.
