2020-10-21 at 3:25 PM UTC in OnlyFans bitches really think there is no shame in what they're doingE-thottery is only bad when it relies on exploiting the psychology behind parasocial relationships to extract money from people's wallets. That said, basically every twitch streamer (both sexes) is guilty of this. I don't see it as necessarily being any worse when the parasocial relationship involves sexuality like with onlyfans. It's all horribly exploitative of sad dudes craving a meaningful social connection.

Such a boomer fudd lmao. Nothing says concealed carry like a beefy ass 1911.
Ask on /k/, OP. You'll get better answers. Glock 43 is also a boomer answer but it's subcompact and has around the same capacity as a 1911 (and 9mm is totally effective, don't let the boomers try to convince you that .45 is sooo much better).
EDIT: Or a Hi Point C9 since it's cheap af and you're a broke ass and probably don't wanna blow a ton of money on a glock. -

2020-10-20 at 9:58 PM UTC in Mandela effect = mass mind control? You never heard about it because until recently people had the common sense to realize their memory isn't flawless. You aren't omniscient. Your memory is flawed. Accept it. There's nothing weird going on, and the only reason the concept of the "Mandela Effect" exists is that narcissists - when confronted with a reality that conflicts with their perspective - are literally willing to be like "obviously it is the world that is wrong, and not I".

Originally posted by MexicanMasterRace Frankly I don't really care about it. It's the first time I ever considered writing and it was more or less just practice of the process. I finished the book in a matter of weeks/days with zero editing. I know it isn't good, but I also know nobody who says they have read it has actually read it. The excerpt linked in that thread is what I sent Panthrax, who also claims he has read the whole thing. But again, I have access to the sales records.
This was also in 2015. 5 years ago. You know what else I started doing 5 years ago? I started playing ukulele. Now I'm a published author who makes up blues songs on the fly to wind down between writing sessions.
That's what I'm talking about though man. You stuck it out for 5 more years, you got good, you saw it as practice and just kept hammering away at it despite people talking immense amounts of shit over something you were clearly passionate enough about to keep doing for 5 more years. Not gonna lie, I envy the shit out of that. I can handle a lot of things and a lot of the shit talking I get, but writing and music... there isn't much that'd be closer to my soul than that. I'd be mortified dealing with this community when it comes to that stuff.
Originally posted by MexicanMasterRace Also I'm pretty sure G thinks Alfredo Sinterosa is my real name, because he keeps calling me Alfredo. My first name is Juan, so if you want to call me something G, you can just use my real name.
To be fair, he's senile and wet brained from all his chronic alcohol abuse. Even if you tell him your name is Juan he'll probably forget by next week. -
2020-10-18 at 4:42 PM UTC in When the phrase 'pedophilia' becomes hate speech...
Originally posted by netstat I don't buy the slippery slope argument wrt pedophilia, there's a wide gulf of moral reasoning between societal acceptance of adult homosexuality/transgenderism and acceptance of adult/child relationships. The former needle has moved far because there's a straightforward line of reasoning: society should allow adults autonomy - sometimes by impeding those who ostensibly wish to oppress them - so long as they're not infringing upon the autonomy of others –> fags should be able to fuck other consenting adult fags, adult trannies should be able to cut off their dicks and dress as women as long as it's their own volition etc.. There's some I would argue fringe support for kids transitioning and participating in those fucked up gender bending beauty pagents or whatever that's certainly not good for them but still an extremely far cry from people being comfortable letting their kids fuck adults. I bet if you did blind polling at least 50% of people would support tolerance of faggotry, double digit percentage would tolerate gender transitioning and <1% would be okay with a 10 year old having sex with a 40 year old. The kill all pedophiles mentality is still dominant and I doubt it will ever be replaced with tolerance, at best some variation of the allow them to come forward and treat them psychologically to reduce risk of becoming active prescription.
Support for transgender kids transitioning/taking puberty blockers is less fringe than it should be. I'm highly skeptical of the slippery slope argument here, but transgender kids and how we treat them conceptually as a society is really going to be the lynchpin with regard to the argument's strength. I'm a transmedicalist to a certain extent, but at the same time I am extremely hesitant to support medical intervention for children struggling with gender identity. On the one hand I understand how important and time sensitive it is, but on the other hand that is a huge fucking decision for kids to make (or for an adult to make on their behalf). In regard to both of these views (transmedicalism and children), I would be lynched if I tried to bring them into the spaces of modern trans discourse. The community is simultaneously vehemently opposed to transmedicalism, and incredibly supportive of medical intervention for children who want it.
Like I said, I'm skeptical about the slippery slope. But if we can rationalize transgender children being able to consent to irreversible life altering medical intervention (or again, adults being able to consent on their behalf) we are opening some doors that should seriously give pause. -

The point of teaching math like this is to make it easier to solve more complicated equations later in life. This is clearly being taught to young children to help them form a basis for doing this with larger numbers. 113 x 57 is a bitch to solve in your head but if you break it down into smaller chunks, it becomes manageable. Maybe you just do (113 x 50) + (113 x 5) + (113 x 2). That's the kind of math common core is all about. -

Originally posted by gadzooks It's still reasonable to put a certain degree of trust into the scientific knowledge base just on the face of it.
It's about putting trust in the integrity of other scientists within the community who act as peer review or in some other relevant capacity.
Yes, having faith in science is usually a safe bet.
Originally posted by gadzooks There's a reason that false science is always ultimately uprooted.
That's mighty optimistic and idealistic of you, and doesn't seem like the kind of thing you can really prove is true. It's kind of a tautological line of reasoning - it's more accurate to say that when false science is discovered it is uprooted. Eventually. Usually.
Originally posted by gadzooks Once somebody publishes a research study, the entire community of that particular field will be scrutinizing it (first during peer review, and then afterwards by others).
Peer review panels consist of a tiny fraction of the field, and the only people interested in any given study are going to be people to whose own research it is relevant.
Originally posted by gadzooks Then other scientists try to replicate the study.
Ideally, eventually this happens yes.
Originally posted by gadzooks If they can't replicate the same results, shit hits the fan.
If one study fails to replicate something that is accepted as dogma within a given field, it's going to take more than that for shit to hit the proverbial fan. At that point you've got 1 point for and 1 point against.
Originally posted by gadzooks To distrust scientific knowledge is equivalent to positing a conspiracy theory.
To distrust something is not the same as positing a completely alternate, unfounded theory. Simply saying "I don't trust that" is not equivalent to saying "actually this is true instead, it was revealed to me in a dream sent by fucking liserd men". -

Trust in the scientific method, sure. Trusting the results other people claim to have gotten whilst following the tenets of the scientific method isn't very skeptical of you though, bro. -
