Even if we want to give Trump the benefit of the doubt and say he was only joking about Lincoln "maybe" having done more, the fact that he didn't even mention the guy who sat in office during the Civil Rights Movement and ended legal segregation is... astonishingly historically illiterate.

I was under the impression that he inherited some and freed them, but reading about his family they were members of a church that opposed slavery so even that probably isn't true. Even if Lincoln had owned slaves in the capacity I thought he had, it would mean very little.

Disappointed that Trump didn't capitalize on that more. If Biden bears no responsibility for the bad things that happened under Obama, he deserves credit for none of the good.

Some unions are historically notorious for being run by organized crime.

Labor unions are just businesses that sell labor as a commodity and use anti-competitive behavior to enforce their arbitrary monopoly on that kind of labor (see: retaliation against scabs, scab lists, etc). They are the thing they claim to hate. smh -

It's not like the Pope was saying "buy me a 20 bag of crack and I'll make sure you're good with god" or something. Hell, it's not even like he was asking for money. He was asking for pledges to the construction of a church, the kind of thing we still see as charitable to this day.
Indulgences got a bad name because filthy protties are disgusting savages with no respect for god or tradition. -

I can't find the original source that I learned about this from since it was from a college class I took like 10 years ago.
Yeah, indulgences were corrupted into a monetary transaction at certain points throughout history. It was a just a blip on the radar relative to the ~2000 year lifespan of the church though. -
