okay but how do you know the belief is true? how do you know it's justified? any definition of knowledge that requires knowledge (of what is True, what is Just) feels... just... inherently wrong. knowledge is a belief that "works" heuristically. if you try to pin down knowledge, you will fail. -

Originally posted by Lanny I mean truth is usually not the controversial criterion for knowledge, it’s kinda just in there for completeness. The problem, as you’ve probably read, is around the relationship between justification and truth.
On the other hand though, I think it’s worth at least considering if we could be said to know untrue things without reducing knowledge to mere belief. E.g. we might say Newton knew about the motion of bodies even if Newtonian physics is now understood to fail to account for some phenomena.
Which I guess is to say we might usefully take knowledge not to be a binary relation between subjects and true propositions but a quantity measuring the efficacy of a subject’s beliefs in predicting or manipulating its environment.
I think the Newton example is totally reasonable. Smol brain as I said so I can't into formal logic, but that much checks out using plain ol' common sense.
His knowledge was incomplete, but knowledge nonetheless.

"Smith knows that it rained today"
A subject S knows that a proposition P is true if and only if:
P is true
Literally right out the gate with "you can know P is true by knowing P is true". -

Glider Nukes.like, the greatest generation? perhaps worthy of our undying veneration. their greatest sin was arguably giving birth to boomers. fuck off. boomers gave birth to everything they complain about. society is shit now? guess whose fucking job it was to safeguard society, retard. you dumb bastards let everything fall to shit in your endless pursuit of self-glorification and instant gratification, and you have the absolute gall to complain about how selfish and shitty society has become. jesus.

good fucking luck in the 21s century of "Fucking die already boomer"
t. boomer born in the 1950s/1960s who not only never sacrificed anything for any war effort, but lived in arguably one of the most prosperous periods (for the average american) of US history
and you wrinkly pieces of shit wonder why we want you to fucking die already -
2021-12-10 at 6:32 AM UTC in “Christians” are the fakest peoples on this planet
A lot of Muslim dudes around this guy's age probably think he's a complete twat. To be fair, he *is* a complete twat. Why? Because the zeal of a convert is unrivaled. This is not a phenomenon unique to Christianity. This isn't even a phenomenon unique to religion. Converts are almost invariably coming from a place of instability - most people who find god do so during a time of personal hardship. When someone has had a hard, harmful, unstable life, and they've done something to escape that, they invariably get really fucking judgy about people they perceive as embodying aspects of their past life. Probably helps them tbh, as a counterexample to illustrate to themselves how much they've changed for (in their estimation) the better.
You see this mentality every time a bummy nigga like me gets a shitty job flipping burgers. Literally the last kinda nigga on Earth who should talk shit, but immediately they start talking shit about all the bummy niggas who need to get their acts together. Same thing with a convert. -
