So apple is allegedly working on an HMD. I assume it'll be something like Quest where it has onboard processing and the ability to tether it to a mac. The big question is will MacOS based VR ever really take off? I have been wanting to get an imac for a very long time so I can relive the experience of using the old multicolored imacs from the 90s and I would love to ditch windows.
It'll be interesting to see how they stand against faceberg too and will they be just as closed and soulless or something decent. Actually if Apple gets into mobile VR then Oculus/Facebook are FUCKED, apple has way bigger brand recognition and a much bigger budget. If apple gets into the VR business I honestly don't see Facebook lasting very long in the medium unless they become the android of vr.
The way I see it is this
Sony and Microsoft rule the world of mass market VR gaming and social with their console based Hmds. Apple and Facebook rule mobile. HP, Valve and various other brands run the PC based VR arena.
In the future though I suspect the two biggest players to be Apple and Sony, with facebook lingering in relative obscurity.
