Lol, I was on NirvanaNet back when that shit was a dial in BBS. Acting like I" just had to of been there" is laughable.

And no, it wasn't the first time or only time people did this. Even in the mid 2000s there were better groups than Totse (like thefreeinformationsociety) but they weren't as popular - which served their purpose because it wasn't filled with shitposting, people fucking burritos, and all the other stuff that obscures this lofty notion of what you guys seem to think Totse is or was. I'm not saying you can't have fun, but some of you guys act seriously are making Totse out to be a religion.

It was a great community and we had some good times, but by the mid 2000s there was nothing spectacular about it, which is why it got closed.

You need to put down the Kool Aid man.

It all started with Totse in 1989. I was there.

You mean to tell me you didn't even consider Bill Krozbyler.net??

Lets keep it realistic here and go an order of magnitude down. Nobody had 10k+ thanks, until Iam(Richard Burnish) exploited a bug in the thanks system and people got around 6mil.

No, I seriously had over 36K Thanks. I was the #3 poster as well, and the 20th member to join.

It's not like the first time people got together dedicated to the idea of freedom and sharing knolwedge was in the 1980s man…

Actually, yes, it was. At least on an electronic platform. Totse was the very first of its kind. There were a few others, but they all followed in Totse's footsteps. Guess you just had to have been there.

Then I'd be the only member.

You would have the company of at least one other person. We won't name names or anything.

It's not about Totse itself, it's about the spirit of Totse and all it stood for. That's the point. The spirit of the temple still lives.

I think there should be minimum requirements for this new forum. For example, you had to have been a girl pretending to be a guy, who's really pretending to be a guy who's pretending to be a girl, but who is really a girl.

You realize you're talking about yourself, right? And that you've killed every clone thus far?

We used to have an old saying, "It takes one to know one."

I had 36,000 Thanks on Zoklet, and yet I was the most hated. Go figure.

As I've always said, it's not over until I say it's over. Do you not find it amusing how every single BBS-clone was blasted off the face of the Web, and yet this one is coasting along problem-free? Not even a ripple in the pond. Do you really think that is a coincidence? If you do, I have a golden bridge to sell you cheap.

… also looks to me like all of the other totse-clones have shut down.

    Ahem...

In all instances, certain deluded individuals with big egos started to think they were too big for their britches, and they started to imagine they could regulate, herd, censor and micromanage free speech. They started to imagine that, just because they owned a domain name and a few megs of hard drive space, that they owned the community and all of its content, and they imagined they could do whatever they wanted with it. But you see, it was all just in their imaginations. A call was made to contributors to wake up, but the call was ignored, ridiculed, oppressed, deleted, moved, what-have-you, and apathy ruled the day. And so the only option left was to put the bedtime story to bed - to demonstrate for the ego-driven dreamers just how powerful free speech and unmolested freedom of expression really is. No britches are too big for freedom of speech, and that's something the dreamers had to learn the hard way, and they did. Should we feel bad? Not at all. Did we lose good content? Sure. Did we lose good contributors? Sure. Did we lose power-hungry, ego-driven, censuring, content-abusing clowns and their enablers? Yes, we did. Did it have to happen? Yes, it did.

…Because it has never been "released back into the wild".

Hotmail accounts get released back the fastest out of all of them. If you use it rarely, but still within 90 days, it won't get released. You'd have to not log into it at all for 90 days for it be available again for registration.
