That's not the point. The point is, Lanny used his mod status to shut up a poster just because he didn't agree with their opinions. That is not a debate, it is a fact. Joke or not, he did it. And it wasn't a joke either. Not many people know this, but Lanny can become so frustrated with a difference of opinion that, once he drinks, all his pretend inhibitions fall away, and he loses all sense of shame. Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I didn't make the bed Lanny is lying in. -

If you acted like an asshat and spammed up the boards, you got the boot and your IP banned. But the progressives did away with all that, and now we see the end result of their foolishness. Of course, that shouldn't prevent people from posting spam in the Half Baked forum. The real problem has never been that spammers can't post, because they've always been able to, in the Half Baked forum, but they insisted on posting spam outside the Half Baked forum. Nobody was robbing them of their right to post worthless garbage, it's just that they had to contain it to where it belonged. So, this "argument" from Lanny and Co. never was a sensible one right from the get-go. They just wanted their cake and eat it, too, which was never gonna happen. And you know what? They STILL have not learned the lesson, even at this late date, as is fully evidenced by the state of this place.

And because Jeff was an absent dictator, and because the Enigma account was used to make the appointment, neither zok, nor acidmelt, nor Metaphysicist could undo the change, or risk getting removed themselves for going against Jeff. Only when Jeff finally showed up months later did they finally "get" me. Pretty comical. Those were some epically hilarious times.

He wrote a script that did it, and then just linked into the server and let it run automatically for a length of time. Imagine how low you'd have to be to go to such lengths just to shut someone up when you disagree with them and just can't stand to hear their opinions any longer. That's scary. -

Using reverse logic, if the Internet is truly as worthless as you insist it is, then a place with useful, interesting and resourceful information would surely stand out like a diamond in a shit heap on a sunny day. If the Internet has become total shit, and let's assume that's true, why does that automatically translate to a good BBS is pointless and a waste of time? All it really is is an excuse for lazy people who are actually part of the very shitty Internet they themselves are citing as the cause of the downfall of the BBS. Jeff's TTFN was COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSHIT, and that's exactly why he paid for his insolence. He forgot that truth and freedom trumps lies and falsehoods every single time, in the end. What you see right now is all it will ever be, and that's just fine with our old friend Lanny. You see, Lanny never figured out that there's already places like pokemon.com and sesamestreet.com and disney.com, where the kiddies can already go to and get their mindless guffaws in and scribble away to their little hearts' desire. He's been told for years that this model of his doesn't work, and yet he refuses to acknowledge it. So, what are ya gonna do? He said the only reason he allowed it in the first place was because Jeff and some of his lapdogs were pressuring him, and he felt like if he didn't do it, he would become "the bad guy". Still don't know whether to believe that or not, since his was the site which Jeff actively promoted the most on his TTFN and in-thread.
