The IRS would have a fairly complete history of your employment, they'd know everywhere that generated a W2 for you, or analogous document for other kinds of contract work or employment and would know your length of employment give or take a years. That's incorrect, Lanny. They can certainly uncover your entire employment history through use of your SSN. And don't forget, you agree to and approve of the check by signature, so there's no legal or privacy issues involved.

Basically, everybody smoked everywhere doing everything, and if you didn't smoke, you were frowned upon as a weirdo or a nerd.
