They were apart of the beat like Ken Kensley who wrote "One flew over the coocoos nest" and William S. Burroughs, Jack Karouak. I mean what brought them to San Francisco out from the midwest and NYC (like Alan Ginsburg)

The hippies were an extention of the Beat out of Greenwich Village going back as far as 1947 -

Then I thought of Zok, Fona and username being the kids in the car. Which is weird because 2 of them are at least partially black.
