Zelensky actually went begging to israel for Iron Dome (fun aside: Russians are calling the tactic of trying to shoot down drones with AKs something that roughly translates to 'Scruffy Dome') and they told him that it couldn't intercept the kind of missiles Russia is using. Iron Dome is basically just a network of Patriot batteries with bugs ironed out, and last I looked into it they still required an AEGIS-ASHORE complex to co-ordinate them.
The GERAN-2 drones Russia is using at the moment seem to be a domestic version of the Iranian Shahed-129s which have actually been designed to evade Iron Dome and similar systems - they run a small petrol motor to drive a propellor meaning they don't generate anywhere near as much heat as a jet engine, and much of the airframe is made of styrofoam or plastic so they're extremely difficult to track on radar.

The reason Iranian drones have a reputation is the same as Turkey, they're effective and well-integrated at a much lower price point, but they cannot compete with the stuff the US, EU and Russia churn out in terms of capability.
now that the Ukrainians have collected a good deal of fragments, it looks like Russia has built low-cost drones based on Iranian designs. The drones in question are designated GERAN-2 and run cheap 50hp engines - they're pretty much RC aeroplanes that carry ~50kg of explosive with an auto targeting computer. Ukrainian soldiers call them MOPED thanks to the distinctive sound they make.
The Russian MoD hasn't commented on them at all, but the reasoning seems to be that there's less supply of advanced parts like processors and jet engines due to sanctions so they want a lower-cost tactical weapon (ie. for harassing troops and attacking fixed artillery) that frees those parts up for more advanced missiles

Of course if you have the right type and composition of fertiliser (uncoated ammonium nitrate) all you need is to pour on a few drums of diesel or fuel oil or similar, and you have a very cheap and easily available explosive. The only hard part is making sure it detonates, you do need a high explosive detonator to use as the primary, but that doesn't have to be big.
Pretty clean op. It's obviously the same crew who did the Nord Stream. It could also be the same crew as was involved in the Dugina assassination. All these attacks are brilliantly executed.
Conceptually, after the Nord Stream and now this, we will never look at infrastructure the same again. It's like back in the day when hijacking became a big fad with terrorists. I expect anyone with a grudge will be targeting things like gas pipelines, electricity lines, and the tubes that carry the interwebs next. For some of these attacks you don't need anything special besides some DIY tools and a can-do-attitude. For instance you could easily take down a broadcast tower with the same technology urban youth use to steal bikes. You can sever fibre cables with just a spade. The internet went out to the south island of New Zealand at least once due to the sole cable being hit by construction crews digging. You can pour petrol into infrastructure cabinets and burn them, and take out various services that way.
I expect grunts will be freezing their arses off watching pipes and roads all over Europe this winter.
