2 - and even when they dont, its still very possible.
all modern buildings already contain significant amounts of aluminum be they in the form of office furnitures or garbages.
the fire only needs to melt these aluminums, which melt at ~600 degree C, and when melted aluminums came into contact with smouldering hot iron, a chemical reaction similar to that of thermates starts.
not to mention the planes themselves are like 60% aluminum. -
