I haven't even gotten it yet. My 486 is still at some post office in Russia.
I won't have it for a couple of months as it is being shipped in a truck.
I haven't looked up if Russian motherboards need 220 power or if it is just the power supply and then the power supply's output power is the same whether its input is 110 or 220.
Maybe I am over thinking this but I really dont want anything to go pop for any reason.
I may invest in a step up transformer. I see them on Amazon for fairly cheap and I can get an industrial looking one just to tie the room together. -
2021-05-14 at 5:18 PM UTC in Things I have learned about my 486 AFTER buying it.Yes, I did buy this machine mostly for what it looked like and I didn't even ask any questions or do much research.
It was just an idea I got from watching LGR videos and I thought to myself "that would be neat to do someday".
Anyways, I got computer fever from my gaming computer build and I just feel "why not?".
After doing a bunch of research I have found that my 486 uses ISA ports which is okay but PCI ports would have been better and allowed for the best performance in such a build.
To be fair, I didn't know they had 486 motherboards with PCI slots.
Nest thing I learned was that the processor it comes with is a DX2 50 which is a little slower than I thought I was getting.
I assumes it was a DX2 @66mhz but the markings in the picture are a bit faded and after looking back I saw a faint 50 after the DX2 markings.
This is not the end of the world as I planned of beefing it up to either a 486 Overdrive processor or maybe even a 586 processor.
And yes I know it says DX2 50 in the damn title but I thought the 50 was with something else.
Can anyone tell me what those 3 slots at the bottom are next to the bottom 3 ISA slots?
I also learned that it does in fact have L2 cache and its a beefy 256k
That is great news because the processor only has 2k of L1 cache.
It also appears as though I am able to upgrade it from 4mb of ram to 8mb.
I am happy about that too.
Currently I am researching what ports my mouse and keyboard will need.
I can't tell from the item listing if it uses an old 5 pin plug and Im sure something serial is required.
Anyone got a serial mouse/keyboard for sale? -

More parts = more problems and this is an old computer using old hardware and software and it won't even plug into my fucking wall because I didn't think about the fact Russians use 220 and USA uses 110.
Anyways, CF is what I see the most helpful links for.
Also, I really want this to look period even if I am cheating a little.
That being said I plan on getting the following 3D Printed to hold the CF to IDE adapter in one of the 2.5 inch floppy bays.

I have done a decent amount of research and a lot of other people used compact flash and have wrote about it giving me troubleshooting material if I run into any problems. On the other hand, I do not see very much out there for sd card readers compatible with an old 486 machine or adapters that will go with the look of my build. -

Walking away from the work week with 41 hours which is better than nothing but I felt like they made most of the week miserable for nothing.
Im happy though because a lot of good things happened this week and I am grateful to be here to see it. -

One of his legs got folded behind him and it went numb. He says he can't feel it or get it to move.

A health savings account saves you money by allowing you to not pay taxes on medications and doctors visits.
Its like a separate bank account you add money from your paycheck into and because it is only for medical stuff they dont tax your income that you contribute to it.
Im pissed because TurboCuck wants $100 to file now and that $100 I have to pay to them basically eliminates any savings my health SAVINGS account saved me.
I would have rather never had it and instead paid taxes on stuff.
Taxes that go to my government to help maintain and build new infrastructure and maintain law and order.
Had I known all that savings was going to some jedis who made a tax filing program and instead of being cool and asking for a few bucks from people if any charge at all and instead they demand all your money and it is just a fucking program. It isn't even like there is anyone on the other end.
I am sure they have some people to pay but out of the millions who use their software it seems that even just charging 2 or 3 dollars per filing service would be able to bring in tens of millions if not hundreds of millions in revenue every year.
It is a bunch of cucking bullshit when a helpful tool to complete a yearly task shared by all can not be created and not profited from with such greed.
These bastard cunts wont get 1 dime from me.
Especially after giving me the options to either pay with a debit card or pay with money from my tax return which was the original $100 and then an additional fee of $40.

I know Rabbitweed really enjoys sitting outside and looking at Nature. I told him that shack he moved into was run down.

I have no idea how to get ahold of him other than the methods that already failed to reach him.
