Humans, some of the higher apes and dolphins are about the only animals that partake in sexual activity because they enjoy it, rather than it being a pure, instinctual biological imperative. To read 'homosexual' behaviour into 'lower' animals is counterintuitive, as it's always the result of confused or misdirected instincts - they're not engaging in homosexual behaviour, they're engaging in the natural behaviour of the opposite sex.
As for 'higher' animals like bonobos and dolphins, I'm tempted just to call them faggots but rubbing off on one another is more of an evolutionary conflict-resolution trait - they've discovered (either consciously or unconsciously) that if they can give someone they're arguing with a boner, they immediately become less aggressive. The sexual stimulation is a means to an end, and because it's so effective it's pervaded all of their societal and intermonkeyal relations
