I think it was being made from norephedrine in China which probably got cracked down on because it has ephedrine in the name and they found it easier to make other substituted amphetamines of the propiophenone class like α-PVP which was huge back in the day but i don't hear so much about lately.
RC's kinda blew up around the same cathinones died, I think it was an industry shift like they realized it was better for them to make a bunch of random shit that basically does the same thing from more unwatched precursors instead of relying on metric tons of one single precursor that can easily get banned and phased out. -
