why do you think territory is important? of course the AFU has to take territory at the cost of men in order to keep the weapons and money flowing from its benefactors, but Russia is far more concerned with degrading the AFU with as little loss of life and equipment as possible because after a certain point, the AFU won't have the capability to hold territory so previous claims are moot.
LOL. do you seriously believe this? even if you don't believe casualty numbers coming from either side, it's taught in military academies that 75% of casualties in modern ground warfare come from artillery. both sides, along with most countries with modern militaries agree on this. Russia is firing roughly 10x the artillery the AFU is per day, from better artillery (and MLRS) units with better-trained crews. realistically it's likely that the AFU is losing the casualty race at around 4-5:1.
Russia initially deployed around 150,000 (of their 800,000-1,000,000 standing army) troops to the SMO, mostly standoff weapons and operators, and relied heavily on the LDNR units and Wagner for frontline operations. They then mobilised 300,000 reservists and veterans - these were NOT drawn from their standing army - who are mostly not currently at the front lines.
even if all forces inside the Ukraine were totally obliterated somehow, there are still a bare minimum of 600,000 troops held in reserve including tank units and the strategic missile forces.

2. Did you not know that Russias had a demographic crisis for a decade or so now with too many aging pensioners and too few young men? Everyone else did, especially Russia (partly the cause of all the stuff calling Russia homophobic) idk how you could have missed that. How would conscription and sending young, uneducated men to die at the front line or return with PTSD help their obvious demographic issues?
3. They're getting BTFO by old UK shit and russias last big wave of modernization was a decade ago give or take. The whole world knows Russia doesn't have any amazing tricks up its sleeve anymore
4. Textbook cope. "We didn't want that territory that we had anyway. There was a funny rock on it." COME ON LOL. Territory is important, especially in Ukraine for getting the upper hand. Fleeing from Kherson and failing to prevent any roads and railroads from being destroyed for resupply purposes. Literally "Why do you think taking territory is important?" 5. Russia's "standing army" is less than 1M when you consider combat ready corps. They've sent alot of Cannon fodder in which, for better or worse has made their demographic troubles worse, however putin may be dead when this really comes to fruition.
Regardless, Ukraine, previously a super corrupt shithole has been redeemed and endeared in the INL com eyes and given access to markets it was previously shut out of, will have a massive "reconstruction plan" after etc etc etc. Given weapons and destroyed their own territory that was mostly either inaccessible or generally shitty.
Meanwhile Russia has been sinking tons of its own resources and depleting its gold reserves to fund a zero sum affair. Russia has been by all accounts taking severe casualties, you can believe the numbers from either side or you can just count how many times they've had to call in New units and refresh troops. After this long its pretty clear Russia isn't able to roll over Ukraine and is just trying to hold territory and scratch out some minor moral victories. A total Russian victory is off the table, they're in a Vietnam scenario at this point and just trying to find enough of a silver living to declare a tepid win. They're obviously worried about the coming Ukrainian counteroffensive but the total inability to take and retain territory while holding off counter measures has been terrible.
Usually countries that are supposed to be superpowers don't have this much trouble taking over ANY cities in corrupt third world hellholes. Russia fucked up by not having their men in Kiev anymore and thinking old intelligence was still good. Plus a ton of other things.
Idk do you think this was how anyone in Russia hoped it would go? Do you think there is a way to declare victory without looking like Russia is retreating with its tail between its legs? If they just expand the territory of DPR/LPR and get a little further up the Crimean coast and can connect Crimea to the territories is that enough to declare a victory? I don't think so, not at this cost, they're going to want guaranteed provisions they know they'll never get and thus they're gonna end up slowly losing more and more ground over time like Vietnam. It's stoking anti establishment sentiment in Russia too. They really fucked up this play -

That's moving goalposts which is fake and gay. If you compare to pretty much any other conflict this is a lost war of attrition and Russia has suffered far more than Ukraine has, in human, financial and international clout coats.
Please tell me how you can frame this as anything other than Russia refusing to pull away from a lost battle because they're afraid of what will happen when they do. -

Literal Ukraine is making Russia its bitch. They can't even protect their daughters from wariat but they can protect their interior from Russia -

He was charged with using his anti corruption organization to fund his mayoral/ presidential ambitions. It's funny that he was considered so valiant for fighting corruption in Russia but then the narrative was that he should be given a free pass on corruption because he's in Russia. Regardless, it's not corruption on a massive scale or anything but people should know he's crooked and self interested -

Digging latrines is a pain, but okay, whatever. Filling latrines is a matter of course. It's the part that comes next that's uhh… offputting. I like indoor plumbing too but my friend is a plumber and is gonna show me how to do the whole thing when I build my garage so that's exciting. Stop being so defeatist when you are legitimately interested but too lazy to follow through. It's a pretty common disability in the western world. Just appreciate what you have and strive for more

I've recently hooked up some solar panels I've routed to a big ol dry cell and am trying to figure how to use most efficiently. Got chickens and some hemlock wood for raised garden beds.
Sometimes it seems like needless struggle to just be alive, other times it feels like mindful self actualization and the indomitable human spirit. If you're not actively trying to be less reliant on gubmint you're officially gay. I need more solar panels tho. -
