The drug is called hypersadism (but don't ask your local friendly neighbourhood dealer for it, or even try finding it on the deepest of deep web markets).

Rizzo has to be the most nihilistic person I have ever encountered.

It's kind of impressive actually, but he's so apathetic that he won't even care.

After all, it is but a fleeting notion.

    Impermanence and all that jazz.

Fucking depressing if you ask me.

I once went a whole month without showering, shaving, or even changing underwear.

I was homeless / living out of a car.

That didn't entirely prevent me from the occasional shower (at gyms/pools, friends' houses, etc), I was also just lazy as fuck at the time.

I Thanked you for your honesty.

The thing is, it just so happens that one of the electives I took when I was earning my bachelor's degree was, specifically EARLY Canadian history.

I don't know a damn thing about the 1900's in Canada, but I do know a heck of a lot about what was going on during initial colonization (at least, what I remember from a course I took like almost a decade ago).

I also learned a bit about it by researching my family tree. I can actually trace lineage (with documented evidence) back eleven generations to one of Samuel de Champlain's buddies/compatriots, who also happens to be an ancestor to the singer Madonna. Heck, he's spawned like hundreds of thousands of descendants lol.

He was a fellow by the name of Marin Boucher, and he was born in Normandy, France in 1589 and died in 1671 in Quebec.

Oh, shit, and the fur trade (it's been years since I was in uni and actually took a early Canadian history course)...

The fur trade was vital to New France's early expansion as The Hudson Bay Company established itself as an economic power house.

And of course, trade implies two traders: The French settlers, and the local natives.
  6. gadzooks Dark Matter [keratinize my mild-tasting blossoming]
It's also been said, interestingly, that the French tended to treat the natives a lot better than the British, at least on the average.

Not to mention, there is entire aboriginal group called the Métis who were basically a mixed-race culture from French settlers and the natives local to the region.

While you're absolutely correct that the French were the first to truly colonize what is now considered Canada, there were definitely native aboriginals divided into all sorts of tribes.

The French settlers had many interactions with both the Algonquians and Iroquoians. There were inter-tribal rivalries happening right then and there in the 1500's when the French arrived, and they even had to occasionally choose sides.

Are you implying that it's bad manners to stare at fat and/or ugly people?

Or, and this really would be more in character for you, are you implying that you don't want to have to see fat and/or ugly people, and are formulating strategies to enable you to reduce how many you see?

It was just a bunch of isolated tribes/villages spread all over what are now Europe and Asia, some of them, maybe most of them at the time, nomadic, moving from place to place.

How can you really pinpoint any kind of ethnic origin for any of these peoples, whether from Siberia, the Eurasian steppes, East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, etc), does it really make much difference?

Phylogenetic research can reveal some of these paths that intermingled to create what became "Native America", but they were pretty much just all from one big, but singular and unified, land mass.

I'm serious. They're like a cancer. You give them one inch and they'll take 100 miles.

Hmm... Interesting. I can't really refute it because, like I said, I haven't been there since 2008.

Next time I talk to my dad I'll ask him what it was like before he left Ottawa (just a couple years ago). For all I know, that's the kinda stuff that might have made him move to a small town closer to Toronto.

And there were Basque fishermen fishing off the coast of Newfoundland pretty early on as well.

Also, the Vikings technically colonized parts of Canada like 500 years before French and England, but they only chilled for a bit and then abandoned the whole continent.

Originally posted by -SpectraL Ottawa is now infested with arrogant and domineering French. They used a clever ploy, to the effect they need to preserve their heritage, and now they've commandeered every facet of society, with no room whatsoever for native Canadians. For example, you open the government job listings, or even the private job listings, and these jackasses will be have French as a mandatory prerequisite to clean toilets - a job you neither have to speak French for, nor even need to know the French language to perform. Anyone who can't clean a toilet and also speak French is refused for the job. You won't even get an interview. Where does that leave the English-only-speaking citizen? And you know why they do that? Because they're an infestation. A cancer nobody here really needs.

Imagine walking down the street in your own native city you were born in and you notice there are signs all over the place, but they're all in French with no English translation on them. Or you buy products from the store and suddenly notice that there's no English on the label, the ingredients are all listed in French only, and there's no English at all on there. Or you go to enter a free contest, but you find out the rules for the contest are all written in French only, no English, so you have no idea how to enter the contest. Or you get on the bus, and you look over the windows to read the ads posted above to pass the time, and they're all in French, with no English ones posted at all. Then you have a bunch of French pussies parading around the whole time and whining and stamping their feet that someone dared to post English/French bilingual signs in Quebec. If it was up to me, they'd all be rounded up and forcibly removed from the country and all their belongings and assets would be seized.

Ok, admittedly, I haven't been to Ottawa in over a decade now, but I did live there on and off throughout my life (dad lives out there), and, at least back then, it really didn't seem like that at all.

In fact, I speak some French (my parents put me into French immersion from the very beginning), and I ended up going to a party in Gatineau (for anyone else reading this, that's across the Quebec border - but only by a few kilometers/miles), and I tried speaking to the party goers in French, but none of them spoke it. I ended up making a friend or two that lived on the Quebec side of Ottawa, and none of them spoke a lick of French.

Now the interior regions of Quebec, that's a whole other story.

But, then again, maybe things have changed in 10 years.

I only have 1,973 right at this moment, so you are higher than me.

I might catch up though! ;)
