If that were true I would have never left my home without at least 2 weapons on my person for the last 20 years, and I would've bought land in the middle of no where and set up a self-sufficient bunker.

The UK's government response to rising energy prices amidst a cost of living crisis has been disgraceful. This video summarises the root cause of the energy increase, and analyses why the government response only aids large corporations, not the populace.

Bill Gates Warns ‘Civil War’ Is Coming, Will ‘Bring It All to an End’

He revealed that he plans to spend billions of dollars over the next few years on fighting “infectious disease” and “climate change.”

Bill Gates: You’ll never solve climate change by asking people to consume less

Bill Gates said that asking people to consume less is not a viable solution to climate change. “I don’t think it’s realistic to say that people are utterly going to change their lifestyle because of concerns about climate,” Gates said to Akshat Rathi in an episode of the Bloomberg podcast, “Zero,” which published on Thursday.

Love him or hate him, Gates is right. People are not going to willingly choose to consume less. Even governments trying to force people to consume less won't work, because any politician who tries will be quickly replaced. People will only begin to consume less when they are forced, by economic and/or ecological conditions, ie: collapse.

'Dystopia on the Doorstep.' Pakistan's Climate Minister Warns the Global North Is Next

The impact of the floods on Pakistan will take years to fathom but Rehman says they have already begun to influence the global push to address climate change ahead of the United Nations climate conference known as COP27 to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt this November. Climate linked disasters have shocked government officials around the world and are “spreading so fast, that everyone’s sobered up,” she says. Rehman is calling on countries in the Global North to recommit to their promises to reduce emissions and pay for the damaging effects of climate change in the developing world. “It is time for all of us to do a really sober stock-take,” she says.

United in Science: We are Heading in the Wrong Direction

The report, United in Science, shows that greenhouse gas concentrations continue to rise to record highs. Fossil fuel emission rates are now above pre-pandemic levels after a temporary drop due to lockdowns. The ambition of emissions reduction pledges for 2030 needs to be seven times higher to be in line with the 1.5 °C goal of the Paris Agreement.

The past seven years were the warmest on record. There is a 48% chance that, during at least one year in the next 5 years, the annual mean temperature will temporarily be 1.5°C higher than 1850-1900 average. As global warming increases, “tipping points” in the climate system can not be ruled out.

Cities that host billions of people and are responsible for up to 70% of human-caused emissions will face increasing socio-economic impacts. The most vulnerable populations will suffer most, says the report which gives examples of extreme weather in different parts of the world this year.

“Floods, droughts, heatwaves, extreme storms and wildfires are going from bad to worse, breaking records with alarming frequency. Heatwaves in Europe. Colossal floods in Pakistan. Prolonged and severe droughts in China, the Horn of Africa and the United States.

Coca-Cola, the company that generates the most plastic waste in the world, will be one of the sponsors of the next Climate Summit (COP27).

"A sponsorship deal between this year’s UN climate conference and Coca-Cola, which has been described as the “world’s top polluter” by an environmental group, has been branded “greenwash” by campaigners. Emma Priestland, a coordinator for Break Free From Plastic, a global alliance of organisations and individuals, said: “Coca-Cola sponsoring the Cop27 is pure ‘greenwash’. Coca-Cola is one of the world’s biggest users of plastic".

Take a look at this graph of the last 11,000 years from NOAA. Notice especially the extreme right edge, the last century.

You can see a gradual warming until about 7,000 years ago, then a slow cooling. The Earth has actually been in a cooling phase. However, if you look at the extreme right, you will see temperatures shoot up like a rocket. This is not normal. It is unprecedented. Even at the beginning of this graph as we were just coming out of the worst of the ice age and we had the highest natural rate of clime, we had about .4 C rise in about 1,000 years. In the last century, you can see nearly 1 full degree, and most of that has been in the last decade. See graph below.

The conclusion is obvious to anyone but the most fanatical man-made global warming denier. The current warming is due to humans adding greenhouse gases to the atmoshere. It is totally unlike any natural warming.

Not going out: how the cost of living crisis is destroying young people’s social lives

The real value of workers’ pay in the UK has been falling at the fastest rate for 20 years as wage increases are outstripped by inflation, which has reached a staggering 9.9%. In August, it was reported that the average household’s disposable income had dropped by 16.5%. As a result, two in five say they are cutting down on eating out, travelling and socialising outside the home.

    Global Wildlife Extinction:

Humans are an invasive species, and the other millions of animal species on the planet are paying the price. After coexisting with other species for millions of years in equilibrium, we have upset this long lull that lasted a very long time. The mass extinction of wildlife is mainly due to the deterioration of the natural settlement. It is ironic to think that after having extinguished billions of other species we still wonder if we are living in an age of mass extinction.

It is absurd to see how the human ego continues, in its ignorance, to want to place itself above everything. The list of endangered species is very long and in this case, the effects are devastating, first of all, the breaking of the natural balance between animal species and all the resulting consequences.

Without going too far into the future, the drastic reduction of the wild environment is currently destroying the economies of entire countries, which had, for example, invested heavily in tourism. This causes social upheavals and migrations, even generating extremism.
