I guess this makes you better and I can assure I have no respect for many who used the other site. I think El has a good idea of what I'm talking about or the people I'm referring to.
If drugs become the focal point of your existence obviously it will have a negative impact on other areas of your life. But there have been plenty of people who used to post in our community who have since moved on to bigger and better things who did all sorts of drugs and still led successful lives. In fact I think the people who become addicts are prone to becoming addicts because of physical differences in their brain due to either genetic abnormalities or unfortunate childhood experiences. Check out the "rat park" study for more information on that idea.

as it stands morality is used and shaped as a tool for social cohesion, differently for different societies, but yes I believe there's an absolute baseline. there's no way to prove or disprove it though so I don't think it's really worth discussing
Are the only things "worth" discussing things which we can prove or disprove? I don't know if everyone would agree with that.
MmQ attempted to establish a baseline for morality by asking me if baby torture is ever morally acceptable, which some does appear to be accepted in some cultures (nonconsenual circumcision). Maybe those cultures are just "wrong" or maybe there is no baseline and morality is relative. If it's impossible for us to know, why not just treat morality as relative?

This may be a significant factor in why many choose to make the utterly foolish decision to have children.
I’m not sure what caused it, but the depressive cycle may have hit its trough and begun to alleviate yesterday.
You don't have enough social interaction. If you had friends or a girlfriend, or even if you just had sex, you would enjoy life a lot more. Remember when you had never done drugs and thought drugs were dumb and now you are basically a pothead? The same thing will happen if you have sex. Or even if you had friends to laugh with.
You can do it.
Even people with down syndrome are capable of forming meaningful relationships.
Just try it.

People want this tech because they are miserable and lazy. They are miserable because of society and nobody in power is looking to change that, because nobody will blame society. They prefer to blame individuals and this changes nothing.
The future might not be a place for me, but that doesn't mean nobody else will be able to thrive there. I'm sure it can work, but its just not a world i want to live in. However, due to the tempting nature of VR i might just find myself doing it anyway.
