The Library of Babel is a place for scholars to do research, for artists and writers to seek inspiration, for anyone with curiosity or a sense of humor to reflect on the weirdness of existence - in short, it’s just like any other library. If completed, it would contain every possible combination of 1,312,000 characters, including lower case letters, space, comma, and period. Thus, it would contain every book that ever has been written, and every book that ever could be - including every play, every song, every scientific paper, every legal decision, every constitution, every piece of scripture, and so on. At present it contains all possible pages of 3200 characters, about 10^4677 books.
Everything you could or will ever type on niggasin.space already exists in this library. -

Originally posted by HTS Men are responsible for repressing women for a hundred thousand year. The victim of oppression is no more responsible for their plight than the victim of a rape. The rapists and oppressors are the ones responsible - men. 😧
Women have also been guilty of being rapists and tyrants, and nobody alive today is responsible for anything that happened 1000 years ago. You're thinking in a tribalistic, primitive way. You think men and women are playing on two opposing teams, when we are really all on one team. Some people are assholes. Assholes can be men and they can be women, too.
There are at least two men on this very forum who have done the opposite of oppressing you; Lanny has given you a platform to stand on your soap box and spout off your nonsense, with no consequences - talk about freedom. And you found love through this forum, and are sharing your life with someone who seems to adore you. Is your boyfriend oppressing you too? As someone living in a 1st world country with universal healthcare and only 1st world problems, have you ever actually been oppressed in your life?
To answer my own question, yes, you have. As a transgender woman you do have to deal with groups of people trying to step on you and keep you down. One group I can think of is entirely made up of women. Trans-exclusive radical feminists, I believe they are called. These are women who really are actively trying to oppress you, right now, and yet you ignore that and instead throw half of humanity under the bus as you shout from your little soap box about how horrible men are, even though many of those men are actively supporting you and your lifestyle.
But you can't own up to that now, it would ruin your joke thread. -

Originally posted by Lanny Why not? We agree that those who have have been raped are generally not responsible for being raped. Why can't a person who fails economically or socially or personally be a victim of an economy or society or culture?
I could totally see that. I was actually just being contrarian. And I don't believe OP actually blames men for everything, this whole thread was actually just a joke, Lanny. -

Originally posted by HTS That's kind of my point. That rape victim blames their rapist kidnapper for their plight, but according to your half-assed bullshit wisdom they'll always be a failure because they aren't blaming themselves.
"Men" are no more responsible for your failures than a rape victim is responsible for a rapists rape. -

Originally posted by HTS On the surface this sounds wise and shit, but then you realize there's probably a kidnapped childrape victim out there in someone's rape dungeon who probably doesn't want to be there.
Blaming a rape on people who aren't the rapist is pretty low of you. That child is not responsible for the circumstances they find themselves in. -
2019-02-21 at 12:36 AM UTC in Men should feel ashamed. To err is human. To blame someone else is politics. You are solely responsible for your success and your failure. And the sooner you realize that, you accept that, and integrate that into your philosophy, you will start being successful. As long as you blame others for the reason you aren't where you want to be, you will always be a failure.

A lot of people don't realize that having an INTERNET FORUM is a privilege, not a right.
Free speech applies to EVERYONE, but posting on an Internet forum means you are not only speaking on behalf of yourself, but also on behalf of whomever is providing you with the pulpit to speak from.
Thus, the one providing the pulpit has to make discretionary decisions.
Lanny did EXACTLY that, and he was not in the wrong with how he did it.
I don't exactly agree with you.
As far as I know nothing finny did or said would have gotten Lanny into trouble with the law.
Lanny didnt have to do anything. He could have done nothing at all. Or could have let the guy have a tantrum and run out of steam. Or he could have implemented an ignore feature so we could all ignore shitty posts and shitty posters would be posting shit nobody would ever see.
Basically I'm saying it doesn't really matter at all but I don't think what he did was really the best choice he could have made. -

Man, I have spent WAY TOO MUCH time debating in my own mind (while waiting at a bus stop, or standing in line at the grocery store, etc) contemplating THAT EXACT ISSUE regarding all of this…
But finny, was, ultimately, BREAKING THE RULES.
There are so few rules here that it's kind of a special accomplishment to get yourself banned here.
I'm not trying to argue that banning finny is an easy thing to do. But we HAVE TO DRAW A LINE SOMEWHERE.
How can we prove quality of a post?
How can we prove spam?
How can we prove anything?
We can't.
So administrators have to make judgment calls.
And, no matter what anybody says, I stand by Lanny's call.
And not out of some kind of brownnosing BS. But because I know what it's like to host a website, and I know that I would have likely done THE EXACT SAME THING if I were in his position and I had my own infinityshock.
Did he have to make a judgement call? I don't know if I agree with that. You don't have to read anything you don't want to read here.
I used to appreciate moderators who would help prevent discussion derailment, move off-topic posts and punish repeat offenders. But Lanny can't be here 24/7 to play janitor. People will post off topic bullshit in almost every thread, and usually nothing will be done about it. But maybe it's better that way. Don't feed the trolls and the shit will sink and the cream will rise to the top. The truth, the posts, that really matter will shine through the bullshit and if your topic doesn't maybe that's because it's just more bullshit.
Anyway... I don't think Lanny actually had to do anything. He did, and this is his website, so we have to deal with that. But he didn't have to do anything at all.
And implementing the ability to ignore or block specific users might have been a better choice. -

Did his comments ever cause someone harm? Did his speech force itself to penetrate your brain?
That's a slipper slope to start sliding down... maybe the man will some day decide that your speech is to hateful to exist and they will exterminate you too. -
2019-02-19 at 10:13 PM UTC in I've come to appreciate Finny over the years.Sometimes he posted some smart shit, mostly about cars and guns. Sometimes he posted some dumb shit, mostly about cocks and assholes. Generally speaking that's not much different than anyone else here.
Yes, he seems to have been posting more dumb shit recently. But I think an important part of this shit posting fiasco to remember is that it seems that it was done in protest. He was protesting Lanny through shit posts. He didn't hurt anybody. Nobody was forcing anyone to read anything. He didn't ruin any lives. He was just fighting the man, he was just fighting the system, albeit in his own unique way.
And as far as I know nothing is preventing him from creating a new account. As far as I know he can come back here.
As I see it he didn't really deserve to be banned, but since his ban is inconsequential this is a fruitless conversation.
