What do you have to show for it? I can genuinely say I've had interesting experiences in this community, even if they make me laugh and cringe in retrospect, I've gotten to know people I like and consider friends, I've learned things and changed my opinion on a wide array of topics. Since this is a Rust thread I feel obligated to say that dude embarrassed me but taught me something about a whole slew of subjects. Hell, programming, the one thing I'm any good at, the way I make my living, probably my biggest hobby, that was something taught to me in no small part by another poster in this community. Sure, plenty of people hate my guts. But I can give you real, tangible reasons why I'm here. I have a good reason to pay the server bills every month even if people want to call me a tyrant in every second thread. You can shower me with all the fake outrage you want, but I'm going to continue to spend some portion of my time and money to give you a platform to do it because someone else gave me a platform to be a dumb kid on, and that meant a lot.
