Sorry, didn't realise this had turned into a 'God' thread.

Imo, belief is the death of intelligence. If you assume such certitude, you'll have that much less to think about. One with nothing to think about would be pronounced clinically dead in few minutes due to lack of brain function.

tl;dr, Faith stops you living to the fullest extent, (which would seem to contradict the idea of life in the first place. Maybe 'God' WANTS you to question him)

Also, I'm not saying life is not without pain, but if your ultimate goal is to experience it as fully as possible, then maybe even the deepest pain can be somewhat bittersweet- relishing in the lows that make the highs what they are and vice versa.

With this in mind, is it all not one great high? What would be the true low? The only answer that comes to mind is an absence of life, based on personal speculation.

Life is tailor made for our refreshment. I live for fun personally, I think life and people are funny, and I don't know what's on the other side of death, but it will happen eventually. I'm in no rush, it's not a limited time offer or anything.

I'm hoping for life extension tech though, to see humanity play out to the end would be cool.

Thanks Soph, I dig you too. That is a nice analogy, it's kind of Hyatt-esque (Christopher Hyatt)

I'll agree on that, I guess I've really got beef with ideals of consumerism when I think about it.

What sort of moral code are you aligned to? (If you can be bothered saying)

What is rampant capitalism, in your opinion.

Fair point; I'd be the first to say I'm of an amoral stance somewhat, with my values resembling those of my peers (and these values being for lack of a better word, relative). Were I to adopt a code of universal morality, taxation would still be very low on my list compared to the global atrocities that are currently in motion, easily preventable famine and disease being an example of higher priority. With this in mind, I'd still collect on welfare, just to put it towards those issues, and still not pay tax, knowing that this country is definitely well provided for.
That being said, I'm no philanthropist, instead I'm selfish, lazy and personally motivated. And it's not just me, this is a common symptom in our society, and it's going to take change to fix those bigger issues, and while I don't know how it's going to happen, it'll either happen or bust.
Though right now it's much easier to justify my actions with a cringy little 'beyond good and evil' spiel.

Imo, rampant capitalism reared its head with the marketing of 'the American dream' or maybe soon after.
Thrown into overdrive by internet culture, I'd say rampant capitalism preys on a mixture of well known social insecurities, and 'Rand'ian individualism. It's pretty much the idea that 'if you're not successful by x standards ('x' maybe being money or influence), you're nothing.

It's a pressure that the world could do without.

All the same, I'm really just a dumb kid with a tendency to justify things, and I respect your opinion Soph, so feel free to point out where you think I'm being a douchebag and point me in the right direction :v

You get shot to death.

So if you have the gall to assume you have the right to indirectly threaten "PAY or DEATH". Then really, you are a horrible person.

Hahah, definitely not on any wavelength like that, it's more I like to think I'm taking advantage of this convenient situation.
'shit, they're just giving money away, I'd be an idiot to pass it up, and these people would be paying tax regardless'
Chances of me ever making enough money to pay tax anyway are pretty low, that way of life just isn't a priority to me right now.

I'm no socialist, but rampant capitalism makes me sick, and the way it's cultured consumerism type ideals

And don't freak on your 'fucked up' fantasies, they're way more common than you'd think; and probably pretty vanilla by some other people's standards.

Don't overthink it I say. There's no general standard measure of personality, so as long as you're not consistently impacting those around you in a negative way, just do what you do. However if that's the case, you might just need to find like-minded people, and if that means relocation, then hell, you might end up healthier for it.

I don't want to kick you while/if you're down, but it seems like you put yourself in the equation way too much, naturally if you're trying to pick yourself apart constantly, you're going to find inconsistencies, like a recurring fractal (and you'll no doubt develop symptoms of narcissism if you're inwardly focused all the time)

Don't worry about right and wrong, there's only what's right and wrong for you (the exception being your actions concerning others)
And don't fret on how you appear in the eyes of others or you'll find yourself trapped in the idea of 'what is an average personality'

what shithouse country are you in?

It's part-excuse, but I definitely don't attach a moral weight to the whole ordeal, a sense of universal morality just drags you down. Hence, no guilt or shame for me thanks.
I don't exactly plan on staying in this occidental nightmare country (Australia) for too long, as I don't agree with the majority of the stances and policies that are enforced here, so I'm making the most of it for the time being. The majority of first world westerners make me sick, so I'm fine with my actions; there are much bigger social problems plaguing this variety of society, to the point where if I weren't doing this, it wouldn't make much of a difference anyway.

tl:dr, you have the gall to assume your way of life is the 'correct' way of life and I have no qualm in sucking up your hard earned cash. Go figure

I don't know what American welfare is like or the social shame that comes with it, from what I'm reading here; but over here like, I'm a musician. I don't have any delusions of fame, or even just success. I get by fine on our equivalent of welfare and pretty much just hang out with other musos, making tunes. The general outlook between us is that it's not a big deal that we don't want to work. Unless your career is your life it seems a little insane to spend a big chunk of your short time on the planet making money for someone else, if you can get by and be happy with what you make on welfare.
I'm more than comfortable to let others spend that time and pay taxes so I can enjoy myself.
Life was tailor made for our refreshment you dig?

Directed at Bill Krozby really; I was just wondering if you'd consider putting all your anti-vax proof in this thread so I could go over it myself. I'm not looking for any sort of subjective evidence, nor that dipshit Alan Jones btw, just yeah, some facts and figures or something, thanks :)
