At these point I honestly don't see him getting impeached. Resign maybe, but that's an entirely different game with a lot of possible reasons.

Back in the last unilateral strikes on Syria over alleged gas attacks, I was convinced he'd been goaded into it to set him up for impeachment - not necessarily immediately, but as a threat to keep him doing as he's told. The strikes weren't approved by congress and could easily be interpreted as an illegal declaration of war, making it and open- and-shut case.

At this point I think it's been left too long to be acted upon; most people barely remember it even if they really understood it at all at the time.

I guess what I'm getting at is there are a lot of ways Trump could potentially be deposed, and the ones with the teeth behind the curtain don't seem to be interested yet. This whole 'Russia Collusion' thing seems just to be a ridiculous pantomime to try to constrain him, and of course also to make the dems feel better for losing the election to a complete amateur.

Apparently Trump tried to set up a 'Trump Tower' in Moscow just before the 2016 elections, and communications around this are largely what Cohen is being interrogated over. Mueller is trying to imply that this was an instance of Trump having business connections to the Russian government (as above, it appears as though there never were any connections at all, just Cohen emailing a generic government mailbox and asking for them to help his company do business in Russia and them telling him that's not something they can help with), and that these 'business connections' went on to interfere with muh democracy on his behalf.

Cohen admitted that he tried to get in contact with the Russian government to get help setting up business connections in the country prior to building that proposed hotel, as he'd failed miserably to cultivate any beforehand*.

The simple fact that he emailed the general press mailbox rather than any specific person within the government indicates that he didn't have any specific contacts - he received a generic administrative response telling him to consult with business organisations.

*The other fact that he thought it was appropriate to ask the Russian government to help him cultivate business connections shows how arrogant he is/was, and how obviously little he thought of the state of Russia. If he did have a mysterious 'back channel to the kremlin', there would be no need for him to be using public press mailboxes, and one would assume he'd have more respect for them than to bother them with something so trivial anyway.

Of course not. The entire premise is that they pursue aggressive, immoral policies that actually work (to a degree) in their own state, but push for self-destructive policies in other states they have a degree of control over.

It's not unlike the US in the 50s-90s before they started losing their position as superpower; they would hamstring other other countries through coups, assassinations and violent revolutions - ostensibly to make these other countries more like the 'paradise' that was the US, but in reality keeping them from developing into a serious threat to the monopolar world.

As for the US, I don't know of any new developments but they've had a hand in Ukrainian politics and military ever since Porky was brought into power. As of late I get the distinct impression that they're getting tired of Porky's antics, because all of his recent political stunts against Russia (the whole MH-17 fiasco, piracy in the black sea, sending gunships into Russian-Crimean territorial waters) have backfired so spectacularly that not even the entire western media machine has been able to make it look good.
