The typical argument here is these are artifacts of sampling bias, which seems like a pretty good point. Almost any criminal population is going to have below average IQ scores, intelligence being a key factor in not getting into a situation where you get administered an IQ test because it's been discovered you're a pedophile. It also seems unsurprising that head trauma is a positive correlate with low IQ. Also a thing (i.e. pedophilia) being a symptom of brain injury doesn't indicate the only possible cause of that thing is brain injury. I'm not convinced that's true. At least in CS you can tell pretty quickly what a person's level of training is if you push on their technical opinions a bit. Yes the state of the art is publically available but I guarantee you, no one is going to put in the effort necessary to feign a qualified opinion convincingly. Malice has more spare time than like three normal humans combined to research his interests and it's still pretty obvious he has no formal training. I'm not saying citizen science isn't a thing or non-valuable, but I am saying it's distinguishable from structured education. -

So it's basically just a build server, but it's expanded to do a lot of stuff other than builds so they call this kind of thing an "automation server". A really common workflow is to periodically grab the latest code on a project, build it, run a test suite, and deploy it to some testing environment and notify people if any step in that process fails. That may sound pretty trivial if you haven't worked on massive projects before but deployment ready builds can a long time to run, on the order of hours isn't uncommon, involvings dozens of discrete steps. Test suites can be comparably slow. Deployments can likewise have a lot of steps and be pretty complex if you're doing things like signing/verification or DNS sorcery or any of a dozen other things that fall under the heading of "deployment".
There's an argument to be made that things being complex enough to justify this kind of software existing is a pathology, but it does make life easier. I do a similar kind of thing for ISS, automatic build/test you can check out here if you're interested for some reason. Deployment is still an SSH script though. -

You know, it was actually revealed that the Israeli government was literally using people on the autism spectrum for some of their programs due to their ability to concentrate (hyperfocus) for long periods of time on specific things, notice small details, pattern recognition, etc. It was some form of photographic and videographic analysis, IIRC. I've posted before about some pretty fascinating studies I found on visual acuity, quantified differences in the amount of sensory information taken in and how it's processed.
