  3. PART 33333: DrEaM $$$3qu3nze

A cloudy dome instead a home
Where no one can come and no one can go
Written in the bark and painted on the walls
The words drips off and into my skull

And holding my hands is like thinking I'm mine
If I don't notice it I can pretend that I'm fine

    A glassblower's shadow, a canvas ethereal
Sextuplets of carbons imposed on fundamental quadrants
Strobing, humming, reverb for blue giants

Encompass the respiration, of a chambered heart
An end to a start and do we know where we are?

I stand my ground, the surroundings my crown
Poorly defined once I lay down

    and it's
Something else, something true, it will
be just beyond, a trail left for clues

    A body a temple, a cage, a puppet
The soul connects to the machinery's sockets
And what may decay and transfer to bloom is
Not something U know to pause and resume

    Drifting to stations,awaiting extinction
Survival is essential, a fuel of premonition
Has the ego and drive simply lost ambition?
So we no longer see need in synchronization
But only our palate and preservation

A cog out of place for the whole living race
A face makes a case when the lives lay to waste
    Insidious mutations, paranoiac relations for
A dozen deaf ears and empty conversations

Why must I wait? To exit this state?
If I was only a feather would I carry such weight?
To mate and propagate, to blame the irate
I now I'm too early or too late

Inside a core, with striking desire
To find fantasy, and trust my own choir
In isolation, anomie, of chances so coldly
I perch from a pier where nothing can hold me

  6. I'm going to respond to your massive gishgallop post when I'm home and on my computer, but I'll take this one down now:

Why is free will an illusion? Why is the self an illusion? Perhaps the feeling of being uninfluenced and undetermined is an illusion but there is no problem with the existence of the sense of self and of free will; people generally just have the wrong idea.

By free will I mean the libertarian concept of free will, the idea that our choices are free from the determination or constraints of human nature and free from any predetermination.

Yes, if you propose completely unfulfillable criteria for free will, then there's no such thing as free will. What would such a free being's decision making look like?

Let me propose a thought experiment:

    - I create a quantum "coin flipper" (QCF) that produces truly random, indeterministic results.

    - I make the (thus far predetermined) decision that whether or not I commit to live my life according to the QCF, will be decided by next QFC coin flip.

    - The coin flip says "yes".

    - I have now committed, with no predetermination or external restraint, to follow the future decision of the coin flipper.

    - All my future actions are indeterministic and therefore free of predetermination, aside from the precommitment to follow the outcome of the coin flipper.

Am I free? Is the quantum coin flipper free?

Captain falcon says a puppet can be free as long as it loves it's strings, or rather, the strings are an extension of the puppets sense of "self". But as explained above, the self is an illusion.

To call people puppets and our predispositions "strings" would imply that we are being controlled by another agent, and this is the sneaky caveat built into the foundation of your use of this example to try to discredit compatibilism. Here is the problem; we are not puppets. We are a collection of innumerable weighted dice. And the biased outcome of the roll of the weighted dice, to the input of any throw, is still the outcome of the weighted dice.

What we have within our system is not a restraint, it is a predisposition. That's what we call a personality.

But I think these compatibilists change the subject. They trade a psychological fact - the subjective experience of being a conscious agent - for a conceptual understanding of ourselves as persons. This is a bait and switch. The psychological truth is that people feel identical to a certain channel of information in their conscious minds. This is like saying we are made of stardust - which we are. But we don't feel like stardust.

At this moment you are making countless unconscious "decisions" with organs other than your brain - but these are not events for which you feel responsible. Are "you" producing red blood cells at this moment? Your body is doing this, of course, but if it "decided" to do otherwise you would consider yourself to be the victim of these changes rather than their cause. To say that you are responsible for everything that goes on inside your skin because it is all "you" is to make a claim that bears absolutely no relationship to the feelings of agency and moral responsibility that have made the idea of freewill an enduring problem for philosophy.

There are more bacteria in your body than human cells. Many of these organisms perform necessary functions - they are "you" in some wider sense. Do you feel identical to them? If they misbehave, are you morally responsible? This is the trouble with compatibilism. It solves the problem of "freewill" by ignoring it.

How can we be "free" as conscious agents if everything that we consciously intend is caused by events in our brain that we do not intend and of which we are entirely unaware? We can't. To say that "my brain" decided to think or act in a particular way, consciously or not, and that this is the basis for my freedom is to ignore the very source of our belief in freewill: the feeling of conscious agency. People feel that they are the authors of their thoughts and actions, and this is the only reason why there seems to be a problem of freewill worth talking about.

VNC seems to work well also. I'm just going to use the one with the wifi built in for my poison-tap.

Works well if your out-and-about and need to get in, but I haven't really taken either out yet.

What I did with mine, is I use the one USB slot for a Wifi Adapter that automatically connects to my phones hotspot. Then I can SSH from either my phone or my computer(which is connected to my phone for the internet) to my rPi0. On this one, I also have an ESP8266 chip hooked up to it for furthermore connecting to Wifi access points or creating an access point. I'm planning on getting my nRF24L01 running to see what it can do.

I also bought one of the newer models(rPi0W) that have a Wifi built in.

This would be nice but I don't think I'm that good to mess with a little "micro" job like that...

Fuck that noise. Niche interests and wanting to be social about them is not a clinical illness. Fucking hypochondriac society, gotta medicalize every deviation in personality, a civilization that's decided it's easier to pathologize every failure to either socialize or integrate members of society than admit systematic or personal failings. Sheepishly we say "oh, I was feeling anti-social this weekend" when we don't want to hang out with friends. The reason I didn't want to see your stupid ass was because I have a personality disorder, of course! There's no room in our society any more for being a prick, or quiet, or awkward. Instead we all have anger management issues, social anxiety, and autism. Wow, amazing, my life is so much better ever since replacing my personality with a collection of diseases and medications. Fucking amazing.
