   The New Madrid had two major quakes
   
   Dec 1811 and and Feb 1812. most major quakes just are follwed by a month or two of smaller aftershocks usually 1 point reduction in a week from the last. like a 7.0 will create a 6.0 in a week (which is still dangerous) and then a 5 and a bunch of 4s week after week or sometimes swarms in a day.
   
   this fucker had a 7.0 in Dec 1811 and then a 7.6 in February 1812. just 3 months later they had a much larger quake. that's rare. a fore-shock that large which created a much larger quake. but they happen. few anglos lived in the territory-states at that time. the ground creates liquefaction which is like quicksand. people will be buried where they stand when the water table comes up and creates a fucking soup during a shaking.
   Another strange event that happened on the New Madrid was natural gas pockets exploding. just large burping fire balls coming out of the ground. the Mississippi or Missouri river (one of the two) ran backwards while changing direction it shifted and took a different path changing the original path it ran along.
   
   all kinds of weird shit happened. it would of killed thousands or tens of thousands of people today if it happened now. multi states of destruction and death.

   it wont do shit. the New Madrid fault could go anytime. unlike California where the damages of a quake is maybe 120 miles maximum the New Madrid fault would level shit 500 or more. things not secured. also most homes have rafter-ties for hurricanes but not Earthquakes. roofs will topple

   No but they level entire fucking neighborhoods and then move earth through flooding which takes out foundations. most of the San Andreas is off the coast. its on then off. it runs back and forth when it gets up towards San Francisco and is 6 miles off the coast of San Francisco so it's unlikely an entire plate will drop into the ocean. those are slip faults. then there are thrust faults which actually cause more damage with a lesser Richter scale reading because they literally thrust up and down and not shake side to side north to south, east to west etc.
   
   the Hayward Fault could produce as high as a 7.5 would rekt Oakland and the East Bay and much of the Peninsula. a 7.4 would damage the bay area on the Hayward more then an 8.0 on the San Andreas. the San Andreas which runs North and South (Pacific and North American Plate) would probably do serious damage to the Golden Gate but the Bay Bridge which runs somewhat East and West would probably be torn in half. it tends to shift about 20 feet when there is a massive quake
   
   and the last time in 1906 when it ruptured, it caused a whirlpool in the bay when part of the bay collapsed and this caused boats to get pulled down and smashed to pieces. then came the tsunami which pushed debris up to a mile in San Francisco like what happened in Fukashima. there are boats buried half a mile from the Embarcadero (The bay's edge in San Francisco) there is also an Old San Francisco under the Newer downtown just like there is in Seattle.
   
   there is a hidden underground city from the 1800s. whenever they do excavating they come across an old Schooners and Packet Ships that are found. Most likely from the 1906 quake that shredded them. also they just took all the trash and debris and filled in what is the Marina District closer to the Golden Gate Bridge north side of San Francisco.
   
   now why would you wish this on anyone because it's a hotbed of Liberal activity? lots of struggling class live here too.
