its too bad that Internet came along when ripterm started to take off due to the 56k modems being affordable but only because more people were getting internet from DSL and Cable access.
even in the documentary BBS 2 of the older Admins said they were wondering why people stopped showing up and suddenly someone introduced them to internet. they were so buried into their own thing they didn't really follow what html was or something to that.
how did you not know about internet? I knew about it but couldn't get it for years. not even copper DSL. they had a back order on that shit for years and something about the lines in my area weren't updated
but Ripterm finally loaded in real time but no one was interested in it over acsii menu and the entire thing just died out. only faggot retro-hipsters in the in 2010s tried to bring it back
it shouldn't die off though. honestly the internet can be shut down but with satellite phones now and or even cell phones, the Government shuts down internet people can always just go back to dialup. much faster speeds than 56k im sure. ISDN speeds -
