2024-02-09 at 6:15 AM UTC in learning gayass linux( my false outrageous)Found adapters n shitt. WIRES EVERYWHERE.. The motherboard has 1 each: HDMI, Display Port, VGA.
The HDMI is the output that became problematic after trying the Nvidia card ( well, my monitors might be gay, too, for not displaying it), I found out that the HDMI output displays perfectly fine on my cheap television. My little monitors refuse to display anything from it once the OS starts booting ( but they would display it before trying the Nvidia card. )
Both the VGA, and displayport signals adapted/converted to HDMI work fine on both my TV and little monitors.
I don't really understand what about the signal could have changed, in the 'Display' GUI on mint, it has a resolution drop down box where 1920x1080 is already set/selected, and 60.00Hz refresh rate, same as the setting on the other outputs. -

why would you want to use a 4090 with lunix, AI or something? typically the latest cards always have compatibility problems that take a while to get ironed out. in order to run it properly you'll need to install the proprietary nvidia drivers because they refuse to release their drivers open-source

It's just a 4060, and that's whatsup, thanks for da info. Package-managers normally only include open-source drivers/apps? I did not know that, heard. Yeah it looks like the 4060 was sold starting about 7 months ago, 40 series as a whole has been out over a year so it' doesn't seem super-duper new.

I don't want to mis-state it and mix up terms, but I believe so, yes. When I power-on, I see a notification about SGX is disabled for a couple seconds, and then lose video output but the system remains running. I believe that message about SGX comes from GRUB, it shows the same or similar notification on another ( functional )system I have Mint on
Gonna rummage around for adapters to see if the Display Port or VGA are putting anything out -

I got an HTC vive in 2016, it was hella cool but the games weren't full productions yet, just a bunch of glorified demos. Ent up leaving it at a friends house for several months while I was away. I tried setting it up in a massive building a few years ago but the sensors didnt seem to like being that far apart, or couldnt handle reflections off sheetmetal walls and epoxied floors. It's wadded up in a tangled mess of cables, stuffed away in a barn. Oh Pastore.
It's a pretty expensive hobby, not sure I'll do the vr thing again. Everyone I like to game with just plays regular games
