When I say I don't like country, even though there are some songs I like, I'm obviously making a generalization based on a sample size, and an assumption that if I only like 1 out of 25 country songs I've ever heard, that it's safe to say that trend will more or less maintain itself as I continue to listen to more and more country songs.
So it could also be said, when a person says, "I don't like blacks," theyre simply judging an entirety of something based off whatever sample size they've dealt with, and assuming that trend, like ones disdain for country music, will continue if they were to encounter more and more of it.
Don't you think you're conflating the issue by comparing stuff like music and food to the color of someone's skin?
I don't care if someone HATES apples.
I don't care if someone HATES rap music.
Those are opinions I may not agree with, but IMO, they have a right to exist, as they are not truly harmful opinions.
I believe people should be able to do whatever the fuck they want so long as they aren't harming others.
That even extends to espousing racist opinions. Should be legal. Should be allowed.
But the ideology of racism of inherently discriminatory and supremacist, and it inevitably leads to people being harmed, even if you yourself don't engage in it. The majority of racists are peaceful and normal people. But they spread ideas that are not peaceful. Ideas that are not good for humanity.
The same goes for any form of bigotry, really. Its no wonder that the same people who can logically come to the conclusion that racism is okay, also come to the conclusion that other forms of bigotry are okay. It does make sense to be racist in certain situations (logically speaking). But that does not make it morally right. People should strive to be moral individuals and not merely logical individuals. -

Originally posted by Kafka This is bothering me and scary, I can’t be in this slower state for the rest of my life and feel like I’ve forgotten a lot of things. My memory was one of my few redeeming qualities. I’m going to try taking smart drugs every day for a week. Normally that would be unhealthy/cause mini seizures but something has to be done.

I recommend avoiding 'smart drugs'/nootropics.
It doesn't really help and the online community is fraught with pharmacological conspiracies and ignorance.
Exercise + healthy food + sunlight is the best nootropic. I say this having done a lot of nootropics. Money down the drain for temporary benefit, like most drug habits I've had. -

Originally posted by mmQ Also keep in mind when you say you don't like most country or most rap, this is in reference, obviously, to rap and country that you've heard.
It's also probably fair to say that youve only listened to a very small percentage of all the rap and country music ever produced, so how exactly would you know that you don't like most of what the genre has to offer if you've never listened to most of it?
If this is the case, then how can you say you like rap, if you haven't listened to all of it? How can you say you like oranges, if you haven't eaten all of them?
Maybe, just maybe, we can consider the fact that the English language contains the useful but often misunderstood tool of hyperbole.
its more conducive to conversation if you don't take things literally, and focus instead on intention and delivery. -

Originally posted by Ghost I had a friend like that when I was younger that reminds me of Jigaboo, who said everything was gay. Rap, country, pop, pretty much anything except classic rock and punk music he considered homosexual.
He also had a weird hate for black culture especially which is pretty funny looking back because he was like 14 years old and I remember him being angry seeing this on TV and called it 'gay as fuck'
We were trying to watch fillmore, the greatest television show in history but this other black show was always aired next to it and I would troll him by going back to that channel and cranking the volume like YASSSSS DISS MY JAM (or however kids talked back then) and he would get legit angry at me like TURN THAT NIGGER SHIT OFF IN MY HOUSE
I think he went crazy and shaved his head and joined a militant nationalist front
Yeah its not really a rational stance.
I will say I don't like MOST rap or country, but I have found too many great songs to dismiss it as a whole.
Some people really enjoy putting stuff in boxes. -

You fear brussel sprouts because they taste and smell unpleasant to you and that amounts to a threat against your well-being.
food avoidance is an evolved trait that has helped us protect ourselves from bad food for millions of years.
Similar to our tribalistic nature
Some people eat like shit
Some people act like shit
it is what it is. But if you want to be healthy and civilized, you wont' do those things.
