just finished it, didn't seem that bad. The actor playing the kid did a really good job of coming off as a creepy possessive motherfucker tho.

They should be, as a novelty. Private keys changed up and purged from records 💩
Nope, it would be stupid. For it to be useful I'd have to store private keys to do the decryption, which would defeat the whole purpose of encrypting them in the first place. You should distribute keys and use PGP, encryption is useless if the service you're trying to keep in the dark about message contents (me in this case) ever has access to private keys. Also keep in the mind it's not hard to MitM someone if they're distributing public keys via something like PM which is trivial to manipulate.

An "open source web service" is bullshit, you have zero guarantee the code that's being run on someone's server is the same code you can audit the source of. As a security measure open source is meaningless if you don't control the hardware the code runs on, which shit, no one with a modern intel CPU does anymore anyway.

Yeah, this. I mean to be fair Orwell was writing fiction. Politically charged fiction sure, but it's really only in interpretation by edgy teenagers that it's taken to be an actual political argument that's somehow applicable to the real world. As literature it's very long winded in setting up its world, like way more time on exposition than there was any reason for, especially since Orwell is one of those writers with a massive hardon for direct writing. "Book in a book" is almost always a shitty trope (see Borges for how it's supposed to be done) and Orwell did it worse than most in 1984. His main character is both a literal and figurative cuck who's only quality to endear himself to readers is how much everyone and everything shits on him.
Animal Farm's barnyard animals are literally more human characters than the cast of 1984. I actually think Orwell's nonfiction has its charm, Shooting an Elephant really impressed me when I read it. It's just that his most popular novel is an absolute trainwreck.

I can't even enjoy the game offline anymore because I know how much it's actually pissing me off. This isn't a hobby anymore. It's a pile of shit. Fuck you.
FUCK!
That's how I feel about CS. 1.6 in internet cafes was the shit, you play the same people, you know how good or bad people are, if you're going to do well or bad in a given game, it was just fun to play. Then I started playing GO years later and if you play in ranked matches people go apeshit over performance, you actually have to train for a fucking video game, and since you advance to the point of not being able to advance anymore as soon as you put in less effort than before you slide backwards. It's not fun, not at all.

also, if I strip out the pk code in quotes, does that mean the 'author' field doesn't change if they anonymise their account?
It doesn't change anyway, the pk attr is just there for building the link back to a quoted post. Technically the usernames are redundant because you could look up the post and then it's author with just the post id but that's a query and a join per post to render the page, ends up being a lot faster to just store the usernames with the quote block and accept that those may fall out of date.

Yo SSL Certification
Not even reboot, just bounce the nginx process. Like the renewal actually worked as expected, the updated certificate was sitting on the disk, it's just the server process loads it into memory at startup and never again so it needs to be restarted.

I actually work tech in a large scale financial company, so our office perks aren't great. No napping rooms. We do have soda and ping pong, but no food (well breakfast cereal, but that's it). I'm at Github's HQ now and then and they have a full kitchen with a chef/prep staff, had a steak dinner while waiting for someone once lol.

The fact that this case has become a political talking point is yet another examples of the basement bottom level of american political discourse. Just watch the faux clip, as soon as anyone tries to talk about the case we get fake outrage over a dead white girl (guess how many preventable deaths of homeless people have happened in SF since this case started). Which is not to say the right has a monopoly on mental frailty with respect to this case, moronic politicalization of the case was enough to push a jury into acquitting a murder too. So there you go, americans are stupid fucks, what can you do?

if anyone asks me what's up when I'm on etizolam I roll over in my chair, arms limp, resting my chin on the back and slowly sliding out of it, and reply in an exaggerated drawl "ain't none of yourrrr... tizness!" and then start laughing in fits and starts, eventually falling onto the floor

In other words you're unwilling to change you opinion regardless of the facts, details you demand I find for you. This is why I don't take your bitching seriously anymore spectral, it's painfully obvious that you don't care if the thing you're getting your panties in the twist about was justified or not. It literally doesn't even occur to you that you could be wrong about anything. I'm not going to waste my time defending my decisions to you when your single mode of discourse is repeatedly asserting, without support, how right you are about everything. I'm going to try replying to every post where you address me with "lol", I think that's a pretty generous allocation given what you are.
