2022-11-29 at 2:40 PM UTCI was told I had 8 cavities that needed to be filled immediately several years back. With no dental insurance I blew it off. Years later I saw a different dentist who did cleaning and I asked if I had any cavities- he said nope! Your teeth are fine.
To this day I’ve never had a cavity…and I’ll NEVER trust another dentist without a second opinion again.
As for dealerships & those oil change places, a friend of mine worked at Jiffy Lube or Meineke…one of those oil change chains. They told him to ALWAYS tell people they needed brakes or tires. They were required to upsell services needed or not and were given a small commission for doing that. -

They fucking the techs also, hire guys out of school for $15 hour and charge $125 shop labor, oh yeah they need the kid to furnish tools also. HAHA -

your first mistake was believing that an oil change was necessary when its not.
im about to tell you a secret that only automotive engineers know;
the dipstick is provided to you for more than just to check oil level in your engine. it also serves as a oil sampler where you can use it to sample your engine oil.
pull out your dipstick and feel the oil. if its oily, no oil change is necessary. -

Pretty much, He said I'd never have problems with it again...2 yrs later I had terrible tooth ache, went to see him and he's like "yeah that sometimes happens, bacteria must have got under the cap"...I said "um how does that happen if the cap installed correctly...no fucking holes it can get in"...anyway he wanted to do another root canal ($1200) and a new cap ($800)...I said "pull it"..he said "I'm not going to pull it you'll have to go somewhere else"...I did, the next one said NO too...found a Mexican dentist right by work...he said "OK $200"...got it done on my lunch break, job done. -

The oil change was necessary...the oil fil/ter change certainly was..enhancements have pretty defined limits. -

no they dont.
oil fílters have large micron sized pores and theyre designed to arrest chunks of dirt and grimes and bits of metal that came off, in a normaly operating engine they dont have have much to fílter.
during my days as a child mechanic ive openned hundreds of oil fílters to find out what become of them when used and they are mostly like new except in some extremely used and unmaintained diesel commercial vehicle where chunks of harmless carbon bits are visible. -
