I'm going today for the first time in like 10 years, I'll probably get roasted by the dentist. Definitely going to need one extracted so I'm going to benzo myself up before I go. Maybe I'll get some pills out of it but probably not.

They don't like to extract teeth, they make more money out of doing a root canal and capping it. I had 2 dentists refuse to remove a tooth of mine because they wanted 2k to fix it...which had already had 2k spent on it 2yrs previously....I told them both I'll be fucked if I'm spending 4k on a fucking tooth.

I ended up finding a "back street" Mexican dentist who pulled it for $200.

or thinking the dentist has the best intentions in mind rather than making $$$.

It's funny how people go there and let them do whatever they want...a bit like taking your car to the shop and saying "uuuh ok" when they recommend $3k of repairs.

Dumb, the dude is there to make money by playing on your fears.

Even though the dentist is there simply to make bank... I still am grateful that they are providing a very important service and facilitating my oral health, even tho it's costly. They weren't the ones to decide that health care is going to be for profit...but everrry nigga gotta eat.

I took my car to the dealership for a free oil change and tire rotation and they told me my front brakes were worn down, and that I should have them do them because I knew it didn't seem soon enough to need them and I had no problems with them. They then tell me that if I don't get it fixed within a month that I'll regret it and hear the brakes making noise.

Asked a buddy to look and they were fine. This was 11 months ago and I'm still driving on them and have not heard any sounds or noticed problems

Yup, on many cars you can look in and see how much pad is left (I can on mine) without having to remove anything...brakes were one of the things they recommended...there's like a 1/3rd of the thickness still left and they had it marked down as "CRITICAL, NEEDS REPLACING NOW"

ETA: They also like to charge $80 to replace the $20 cabin fil/ter that takes like 30 seconds to replace yourself.

About the most you will get these days is 5 and that's if you are a regular patient.

Talk about pain and suffering, I had all 4 wisdom removed in the navy. The military isn't known for top notch doctors.

Lol And I betcha that, coincidentally, the oil changers happen to perform all those repairs themselves, and possess all the required parts in their inventory. How stinking convenient. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคจ

Dentists are the car mechanics of the health world.

I was a self employed mech for the last 20 years. Never get work done at a dealer unless under warranty. I'll admit it's hard to find a honest mech and not retarded at the same time.

My dad has had several bad experiences with dentists to feel this strongly about them. I'm thinking the 1st 2K you spent on that tooth didn't do what it was supposed to do. The bastard hoodwinked ya, didnt he Pops?

Some wud argue that chiropractors are the car mechanics of the health world. I've never been serviced by a chiro. And i can't say i've had a bad experience with a dentist. However* maybe I got hoodwinked and still don't know it. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜•
