If you had a false memory how would you know?

    You forgot "apparently" again...

No we can't agree on "mostly true" only "apparently mostly true"...they are quite different statements.

Everything you think you know might be a fabrication of 1, the simulation or 2, your brain.

Good news everyone. Fire actually happened. Everyone was fine. I had the street right just not the exact address. Crisis averted.

How do you know this fire actually happened?

Psychomanthis burnt down a house as a child with a girl in, and then he repressed the memory.

It also begs the question, if one suddenly has false memories, but they are clear and seem to be their own does that mean the person’s identity has changed? Because our identity is just being able to determine a string of memories that happened to us or that we were in.

The Sophie that was in a fire is an alleged pedo. But maybe the Sophie that uncovers the true memeory isn’t.

This is all starting to sound very Nightmare of Elm Street to me.

The human brain is known to fabricate memories and fill in gaps...this is a KNOWN.

In psychology, confabulation is a memory error defined as the production of fabricated, distorted, or misinterpreted memories about oneself or the world. ...

ETA: Again assuming the human brains exists and isn't just part of a simulation of course

Isn't Cogito ergo sum a term used as an argument against people who say this is all a virtual simulation (life and our existence)

We could be in a simulation but we currently don't have the technology to create a life-like simulation ourselves, which means that we're either the original or the latest link in the chain.
Its about 50/50, but i'm inclined to believe we're the original, at least in this 3d space we call the universe. So if there will ever been any simulations, it will be because we or other inhabitants in this universe created it, not because we currently live in one.
There are things that are way more probable than the simulation theory.

Maybe the big bang was just an elder passing gas, and we're actually existing in the middle of a cosmic fart.

Programmed thinking...the ones running the simulation might not even be what we consider "human"...we might be nothing more than an ant farm to them...the ant farm goes about their business like they are number #1 in the terrarium and no clue it's a setup and they are being observed.

I learned my lessons the hard way
    Every scar I earned
    I had to bleed
    Inside the day yard
    A system of controlled movement
    Like a giant ant farm
    Any time is long time
Now you're not in charge of your time anymore

It means "I think therefore i am". It's a philosophical concept well worth looking into.

I like to think of our known universe as more of a little kid's snow-globe sitting on their nightstand.
