besides historical re-enactment? the fact that you can make ammunition out of lead, wood, sulphur, and stump remover, a handful of flint will last basically forever. so you'll always have ammunition for it, if you're even a little resourceful. and they're a lot of fun to shoot, experimenting with different amounts of powder keeps it interesting, and it's rewarding to shoot bullets that you just poured into a mold. -
